Best Opening/Credit Sequence

#1

Post by Sir Jig-A-Lot »

sometimes an opening &/or credit sequence can make or break a viewer's interest in a movie. i'd like to know what my fellow AF'ers fave opening sequence are. the COOLEST & still the best for me has to be the opening hilarious diner scene to Reservoir Dogs which is immediately followed by the slow motion walk of the primary characters accompanied by the George Baker Selection's Little Green Bag. way fucking cool!

Shit man, I've never even thought about this...I have to usually reach some kind of anticipation to watch a movie in the first place, so the opening of a movie I can't even form an opinion about...Unlike a CD, where for me, the opening track sets the tone for the entire experience, I kinda view openings as a formality in movies...

ah yes!, se7en,Fight Club & Ghost In A Shell. solid calls.
the intro to Lord Of War looked great. still don't think that could make me watch it.
glad none of y'all 2 mentioned Star Wars or Superman as that's just stating the obvious.
more faves of mine are the openings to Clerks,Juice,Killing Zoe,New Jack City & Serenity.

I would say Infernal Affairs 2. Whoever saw that has to have seen Infernal Affairs 1 all the way through to fully appreciate it. Infernal Affairs has a good opening as well but it wasn't as like whoa what the fuck type of thing.

I would say the beginning of Saving Private Ryan is the one that blew my mind.

Yes, the opening battle of Saving Private Ryan was incredible.

How about: The opening of Raiders of the Lost Ark - with Indy finding the golden idol and escaping from the rolling boulder.

The first few minutes of Jaws as well - with the famous theme music and the shark getting its first victim.

The opening credits for Dr. Strangelove are clever, with the in-flight refueling of a B-52 bomber, which subtley (or not!) incorporates the film's sexual themes.

Damn guys, I can't believe I am still drawing a blank on this...I can't ever remember watching a movie and being gassed about the opening...I mean, I'm sure it has happened, just can't think of when, where, or what it was...

The first 45 minutes of Full Metal Jacket was outstanding but got a little dull after that.
