Re: 2007-08 NBA General Discussion Thread
I kid I kid...Actually the last 4 times these two teams have faced off in the Finals the team that won game 1 lost the series 3 out of 4 times (Sportscenter factoid). So I still expect nothing but disaster. :(

OK...
I'm getting pissed off watching this game...I mean, I know I'm a Laker's fan, so of course I'm going to be a bit bias, but damn man, the C's are getting EVERY FUCKING call there is..!!! They calling little pitty pat bullshit on the Lakers, meanwhile, the C's are running free..! To this point, about 4 mins left in the half the Lakers as a team shot 2 free throws...Some dude off the C's bench has already shot 8..!! The fuck man...This is some bullshit, this is the fucking playoff man, put the fucking whistle down unless its obvious...
Free throws...
Lakers 2-2
C's 12-17
:curse:

Yeah your bias. But that's ok because thats how I feel today the other way, I thought the officials were letting LA get away with murder last night with an exclamation point when Radmanovic traveled from about half court to dunk the ball in the 4th. Depends on your perspective I guess, but we won so I can't complain too much! :laff:

Ha..!
Yeah, he walked, but it was a breakaway, they'll never call that...But we're not talking about perceptions here, we're talking about reality...
Final Free Throw Stats:
L.A. - 10/10
The C's - 27-38
I mean, honestly...The refs were calling a ton of reach in fouls, little bullshit knick knacks...Kobe went to the rack spinned and slashed his way to the goal, got bumped, hit...Made the shot and the ref was like 'Oooh nice!'...Kobe got T'd up cause they had the whistles up their asses...There was not that big of a defensive effort by the C's for them to shoot 28 more free thows than the Lakers...

Yeah there was some tic tac stuff but that usually tends to even out when the series shifts to the other side. LA has complained so much that now the officials will be lookin to grab the Celtics on just giving Kobe the evil eye or something. I just hope they can win one game out there...but I know you're not of course! :laff:
I was almost going to go to the game last night with an old GF of mine, but she reneged (Native American Giver!!) the tickets after her original offer. She doesn't know a basketball from a meatball and she's at the game in choice seats...dammit!!
Ah well she's a good egg, she offered to buy tix and take me to Game 6, I don't think she knows it'll be like a $1000 a ticket for Game 6 but I'll let her surprise herself.

Re: 2007-08 NBA General Discussion Thread
LOL...Damn burning those bridges, eh..? :p
FINALLY a fucking win...An ugly win, but a win nonetheless...To be honest, this is how I originally thought that the series would go...I can't recall ever seeing everyone on the C's, namely the big 3, run at a high level simultaneously...Usually, one or two of them have subpar games...I fully expect Paul to do better in Game 4, but Garnett or Ray will be damn near invisible...The C's need those guys to play well, but the Lakers on the other hand, just need Kobe and one other guy to step up...Sasha, D.Fisher, Lamar...Any of of those guys has an honest game, if it is close, Kobe will close it like Kira Sedwick...
Foul calls were iffy, but it would be just like right for Phil to bitch about fouls for 3 days and the Lakers to have the worst day at the line ever...

KG and Pierce had their worst games of maybe the year offensively and they still stuck around to the end with the scoring coming mostly from Allen and the bench. I was pretty mad at them losing such a close game but when Pierce and KG get their game back I think they'll edge out LA. If just one of those guys had an average night then this would be 3-0. Although Vujacic had a great game. Yeah I didn't hear Jackson bitching as much last night...wonder why? :laff:

Re: 2007-08 NBA General Discussion Thread
What's weird is that even though I'm a Lakers fan, I KNOW they'll be a better team next year...Kobe's already won 3 championships...And I've always though K.G. was a great guy...I hate to see a player like him not win one cause he's just been awesome for the game...Same with Paul P and Ray Allen...Not that they all need that to cement their legacy, but K.G. has been crazy consistent his whole life, got molested in Minnesota for all those years, get to Boston and have to face Kobe...It's almost not fair...If the Lakers weren't in the thing, no matter who else came out of the West I'd be pulling for Boston...And the east is so fucking topsy turvey, there is no guarantee that they'll even be able to make it back to the ship...
If the Lakers make this 2-2, And the C's don't win game 5, you will be yet another accosted Boston sports fan dl1...Long live the Red Sox, however... :p

Re: 2007-08 NBA General Discussion Thread
I can't see em losing all three in LA and like I said if KG or PP had somewhat of a decent night then they could really be driving now. But the Lakers definitely have the brighter future ahead of them. I don't think any of them are a star in making outside of Bynum but they're all young and pretty solid. I actually think the East is going to be the more competitive conferance in coming years with great young teams like Orlando, Atlanta, Washington and Cleveland coming up. In the West I think San Antonio and Phoenix are at or near the end of their run and the next few years it'll be between LA and N'Orleans. So yeah I NEED Boston to win this one cause I don't think we'll be here again for alooooooooong time!
The Red Sox and Patriots are a given now.. :laff:

Ha..! Why can't you see them loosing all 3 in L.A...? They lost all 3 in Atlanta and Cleveland, and L.A. is undefeated at home...Paul and KG were off, but so were Gasol and Odom...Last night was a off, but balanced game and L.A. had more in the tank...Dude, the C's are doing down faster than a hooker in the corner...I'm just worried that they have home court advantage and the Lakers don't seem like they want to win there...
