The Republicans really need to get energized. The convention thus far has been low-key and lackluster. Very minimal representation of the youth vote or the minority vote. Everytime the media pans the crowd we get the same shot of mostly middleaged to elderly white people.

Dude, Obama is not experienced in the executive branch of govt.
SARAH is the MOST experienced in the executive branch of ANY of the people under heat.
Her state ain't just got a surplus, it's got a SAVINGS ACCOUNT!!! She operates her state on a profit. and she did it while being a mom and dealing with some real life shit that ain't gonna stop.
Damn, you wanna talk aloof; Obama and all these dudes talking out a judicial mouthpiece.
SHE is executive. I seriously think Ron Paul was going to ask her for veep. I think he is the one who put her on McCain's radar.
Biden is a pundit with a lobbyist son. He not only accepts them, he is related. and he has driven a wedge of distrust between my ears by doing exactly what he said he woudn't.
McCain is a man I have a lot of questions about. most about his legend as a POW. but that is just suspicion. He is also looking healthier, but his voice belies the fact he acts from instinct, not advice. He won't debate well, for that reason.
Obama is a man who has been looking for presidential support for his two year career. I find him politically impotent, but popular and well trained to highlight disadvantage as a promise like a good liberal socialist. I personally find him to be one of the least powerful black men in Senate, except his influence. He is a good organizer, though, and works bi-partisan.
Palin is a woman of political ability. Far as I can tell she is the best of the lot, even if she is caught up religiously in the pentacost and has some unbased influence from a charismatic christian movement. I suppose if I were a person who hated jesus freaks, or had an abortion gun, I would feel threatened by her.

Re: Democratic/Republican Party Conventions 2008
I just finished watching Palin speak so I figure I'll offer my opinion on it all also.
Palin gave a great speech tonight. She was very articulate and down-to-earth. She gives you that feeling that she is someone you could just sit down and have coffee with, which is a huge plus to grab the "average voter". (IMO, Obama has that same characteristic.) She did a great job of showing herself as an average mom from a small town, but also someone who doesn't mind pushing buttons and causing reform. This was just an opening speech, though, and honestly the bar was set pretty low for her. I'm really curious to see how she'll respond in her debate with Biden when she has to talk about the economy, healthcare, and creating jobs. Oh....her speech was way better than Biden's was also. My main concern for her is her family. I don't know if the White House is the right place for a woman who has a young, special-needs child. I think she'd be too distracted.
Also, if something happened to McCain (he is 72 and has had 4 bouts with cancer), is she someone you would want leading this country? It's definitely something that I'm having to think about. If I look at the Democrats, though, if something happened to Obama, I definitely would not want Biden to be our leader.
Her experience probably is more credential than Obama's. He has never written any major legislation in either state or federal courts. Obama's experience is a huge problem for me.
I agree with all of you though, the Dems really know how to party more than the GOP!

She did a great job with her speech; the only one who really energized the crowd. Now that they've preached to the choir, time to sell it to the American people.

Hmm, not sure I really care...Simple reason: Experience = ???? Competence..? Ability..? Intelligence..? Judgment..? Forecast..? None of the above, just means you've been there before, and is as much of a pro as it is a con in many instances...All things considered, experience is a backing factor, not an immediate one...I can't think of a single thing I've done or come across that is dictated by experience...The fact that I have not driven a tractor doesn't imply that I can't run a good farm no more than it implicates a man that has driven a tractor for 20 years runs a successful one...raum wrote:Dude, Obama is not experienced in the executive branch of govt.

TT, as an athlete, I wouldn't figure experience to be an issue for you either...2 ballplayers graduate high school, go to college, play ball, and head to the minors...One gets called up, and one doesn't...Primary reasons he may get called up probably don't include experience...On the Steelers run to the Super Bowl, future HOF running back Jerome Bettis fumbled the ball on the goal line in an absolutely improbable play...The game would have surely been lost, had it not been for a game saving tackle made by 2nd year QB Ben Roethlisberger...So having experience rocks, but....yeah...
:D

Wow, I wonder what other things Miss Palin can do with that nasty little mouth..! She did well, but all I heard was a bunch of attacks...I mean, nobody knows her, why not talk about some of the things that give her credibility..? I thought the speech was good, but way too negative...I'm not sure I would have wanted her to come out and be so negative, but like TT said, the convention was/is DRY...Those people look so damn uninterested..! This convention just has an entirely different feeling and charge than the Dems...
I'm tired of the experience argument too...I'm tired of the change shit, but the truth is that we need some change more than we need experience...Palin was the mayor of a small town rumored to be left in debt when she left...I think she should have spent more time building a 'don't bring that shit here Homie' foundation for herself...Anybody can come out and talk shit...
I don't care about experience, mavericks, change, moose hunting, or none of that other shit...I want to hear about plans and solutions to get me and my family back to the big dinner table...And if someone heard anything in the GOP that pertains to that, please highlight what I missed...All I heard and have been hearing is shit talking, and that's not what interests me...

Re: Democratic/Republican Party Conventions 2008
Well I think she came out slugging because of all the shit the left wing/media sent her way the last 5 days. The stuff about her daughter was just so uncalled for and comparing her to Britney Spears mom, white trash etc. Brit's mom has one job..TAKE CARE OF BRIT! Palin has a little more going on with her life than to follow this young girl around. But anyway I digress it was just a speech to show she is no shrinking violet that will be dazed by Biden or the other Dem pressures and I think she hit a home run.
OH and the concerns for her baby son and any of her family as a distraction for her are also outa line and sexist. If Romney or Pawlenty or even Biden were in the same situation would you hear the same tripe? She has a husband just like those guys have wives. Does a father have no responsibility in raising a child anymore?
As for the partying I think alot of the delegates were shook up by the mobs outside throwing bleach on them, spitting on them and in some cases trying to outright beat them. That and the Gustav concerns kinda mellowed what shoulda been their biggest party.
It's a shame what the distance has become between the two competing parties.
