Shawn Merriman is out for the season also. Things are looking grim for the AFC

I definitely like the NFC for the Superbowl this year...Bears trumping the Colts..? Wow...Brady is gone, automatically you know the AFC is up for grabs...I like the Steelers in the AFC, a run game that stays in tact is a team that's hard to beat...Ben has showed he can win games with his arm, but if they're playing smashmouth ball, he'll be happy going 13-15 and 200 yards every day...

With Brady out, the Chargers defense suspect, and the Colts not looking like they usually do, the Steelers definitely are the team to beat in the AFC. It's probably going to be a Steelers/Cowboys Superbowl. I hope the Packers make it over the Cowboys, but I know it's probably not going to happen

Yeah I think even before the injuries the NFC was pretty close to the AFC in talent now anyway. Last year's Super Bowl showed that. I think if the Cowboys don't do it this year it would be a choke of Patriots (Super Bowl I mean...yeah it still smartz) proportions. If Tennessee gets a QB they could be dangerous too though in AFC.

Sometimes ya gotta tell your mom STFU! And I'm a devout mama's boy! He's ruined now. Ah Vince we hardly knew ye!
QB’s mother: Titans’ Young ‘hurting inside’
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—The mother of Titans quarterback Vince Young said he indicated he doesn’t want to play football and is “hurting inside and out.”
Felicia Young said in Wednesday editions of The Tennessean that her son is tired of all the negativity he’s faced after being booed during a 17-10 win Sunday over Jacksonville. On Monday, Titans coach Jeff Fisher called police to help find him.
“What would you think, if you were tired of being ridiculed and persecuted and talked about and not being treated very well, what would you do? What kind of decision would you make?” Felicia Young said “He may not want to deal with it (all), but you have to get to that point before you make that decision first.
“But we’re not talking about football right now. We’re talking about what would make him happy, and that is the most important thing.”
The phone number for Young’s home is unlisted, and his agent, Major Adams, did not answer his cell phone Wednesday morning. The Titans did not immediately return a message left by The Associated Press.
This isn’t the first time that Young has talked of wanting to quit football. He told a reporter last spring that he thought of retiring after his rookie season, a statement he said later was taken out of context.
Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young waits to call a play late in the fourth quarter of an NFL football game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Nashville, Tenn., Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008. Young was booed after being intercepted midway through the quarter and later left the game after spraining his knee in the 17-10 win.

The No. 3 pick overall in the 2006 draft, Young won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and followed up by helping the Titans reach the playoffs last season with a 10-6 record. He has been criticized for his passing struggles, with nine touchdowns and 17 interceptions in 2007.
His mental state has been in question since being booed Sunday after his second interception during the Jacksonville game. He didn’t want to go back into the game until prodded by Fisher.
He sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee four plays later and could be out for up to four weeks. Fisher said Tuesday night he is only ruling Young out for Sunday’s game at Cincinnati.
Young didn’t go to the team’s offices Monday and postponed his MRI exam until Tuesday. He met with a psychologist at his home Monday along with Fisher and another team official.
Four hours of uncertainty followed Monday night when Young left his home without his phone, prompting someone at his home to call Fisher. He called police to help find the quarterback and had a meeting late Monday night with Young and police crisis negotiators at the team’s headquarters.
Young later drove home.
Felicia Young said his son needs some space.
“It is hard, all he is going through right now. He’s hurting inside and out,” she told the newspaper.
“But he will be fine if people are prayerful and help my baby boy out. He is a young man. He just needs a lot of love and support.”

Yeah, Tennessee lost Vince Young for about a month, but I really think they are better off for it. He's a horrible passer

Re: 2008 NFL Discussion Thread
I'd have to say both leagues are totally wide open. Yes the Steelers looked great, but Parker is coming back from injury. Plus he has always been an injury waiting to happen. And without their run game, there's nothing special about them. The Jets are still the Jets, Farve's not that good. At best he moves them from so-so to good (wildcard) but Farve's play in the playoffs is still suspect IMO. The Colts, while it's still early, look slow and Harrison looks old. And they look like they will take a pounding again from the Jags' and Vikings' running games.
The NFC, pretty much the same. The 'Boys need to prove they can win when it counts. I'm still not sold on Romo. He's like the A-Rod of football. Big gun in the regular season, water pistol in the playoffs. GB, I'd like to see Ryan Grant prove he's not a one hit wonder, and if Rodgers can stay healthy for a whole season. Seattle? Please, they may win their division, by default, but one of us might get a call to play receiver for them soon with all their injuries. NFC South.... haha good one. Maybe the Saints. Even the Eagles need a full season of Westbrook and McNabb, which history tells us is very unlikely.
Anyhoo, who ever stays the healthiest should have the best shot.
Jags over Pats, Eagles over GB
Eagles over Jags... or when I'm drunk, Bears all the way! ;)

Re: 2008 NFL Discussion Thread
HA! I would have to say my picks to go are still San Diego even without The Roid king west (ok in fairness the Roid king East is Rodney Harrison but I still love the guy), and Dallas even with A-Rod at QB (love that comparison by the way Ero! Very accurate! Umm T-Rom?) It just makes me sad at how easy the Pats may have gone through all of em....ahhhh what could have been..but it probably makes it a wide open contest for every team for the first time finally...well except...naw I won't do that to Notfunny, he's traumatized enough.
