Hurricane Ike beefs up for Texas blast

Deadly Hurricane Ike has strengthened to a Category-2 storm in the Gulf of Mexico and is heading towards the southern US coast where authorities in Texas have ordered evacuations.

After ravaging Cuba and the Caribbean, Ike could slam into the Texas coast immediately south of the port of Galveston sometime tomorrow afternoon or night as an even stronger storm, the National Hurricane Centre has forecast.

Ike was expected to become a major hurricane today, the centre said, referring to storms of Category 3-and-above intensity on the five-level Simpson-Saffir scale.

Texans living on the Gulf Coast were bracing themselves for something in the order of the ''Great Storm'' of 1900, a hurricane that killed about 6000 people and produced a storm surge that submerged much of Galveston.

I just don't get it...

There are people who ignored the warning to get out, sitting on TV laughing because the now realize they should have got the fuck out, being asked why they decided to stay and they don't say, "I'm on dialysis" or I couldn't move my sick parent....

This may be wrong, but to ask people to risk their lives saving you when you ignore warnings for no reason...ridiculous...They should have left they ass there...

There are people who

...don't have the money to get out just because someone tells they got to evacuate.

Some have it and don't want to spend it needlessly.
Some saw New Orleans evacuate, and nothing happened.
Some couldn't if they wanted to.
Some have nowhere to go.

and finally, congnitive science reveals...

Some people have no self-preservation, or maybe even a self destruction instinct.
(a function of overpopulation.)
