RE: http://www.dailytech.com/Microsofts+Win ... e13802.htm

Currently available at your local torrent websites. :D

After using build 6956 for a little bit I can say that I am looking forward to Windows 7 in the worst way. Anyone else using it yet?

Dude, I love Vista...I have had 0 problems with it, or well, 0 considering problems compared to other Windows OS's...The key is a great machine to run it on, that's Vista certified...

Can't wait to see the new shit..!

I really do hope it is a significant improvement on Vista. I'm not that interested in it to waste my limited bandwidth on the leaked beta but I will spend some time with the final release to see if it has any advantages over XP.

Official M$ Direct Download links:

Windows 7 x86 (32bit)

Windows 7 x64 (64 bit)

Taken from here.

I'm getting the 64 bit version. I'm just waiting to get a key...

I am really hoping Windows 7 is a viable alternative to XP for me.

They are getting back to normal product release cycle. It used to be every 1-3 years until Windows XP came along.

Windows 95 (1995)
Windows 98 (1998)
Windows 98SE (1999)
Windows ME (2000)
Windows 2000 (2000)
Windows XP (2001)
Windows Vista (2007)
Widows 7 (eta Q4 2009)

It is a significant difference. It runs a lot better on older hardware too. Ran it on a laptop with 1GB RAM and it was just as fast as Windows XP.

Oh, you can sign up for the official Beta here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/eval ... 53205.aspx

Keys are readily available. Since the Beta was build 7000 that was leaked you can use the key to activate it.

Yes it is OK so far. I'm annoyed I can't seem to make the Start menu look "Classic". Also, performance seems to suffer a bit doing CPU intensive tasks such as video processing or rendering with all the fancy effects turned on - much closer to XP performance if I turn all effects to "performance" settings (i.e. off).

Since I'm reaching the point where I'll need to take advantage of a LOT of ram, Windows 7 64 bit may be the way forward for me.

I'm in need of an outward blocking firewall like Zonealarm that works on Windows 7 64bit so if anyone knows of one, let me know.

So far all of the day to day things I need to use in Windows work under Windows 7 - with the exception of the firewall.

More testing to be done but so far this is pleasing and holds some hope for me unlike Vista.

Apparently the same random keys are being thrown around so to save you the trouble I have included a list:

The keys work on both the 32 and 64 bit version as far as I have heard but I've only tried the 64 bit version myself.
