Samuel L. Jackson has buried the hatchet with Marvel Entertainment, making a deal to play the role of Nick Fury in Iron Man 2, and potentially many other films.
Jackson's deal is a long-term commitment to play Fury, the leader of the espionage unit S.H.I.E.L.D. His deal contains an option to play the character in nine future Marvel superhero films, efforts that are expected to include The First Avenger: Captain America, Thor, The Avengers, toplining a possible S.H.I.E.L.D. movie, and potential sequels.
Jackson introduced Fury in the closing moments of Iron Man, when the character asked Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark to join his group.
You've never even read the Ultimate line have you raum? Fury in Ultimates is so crucial to that whole universe that now that Marvel is starting to give the old school Fury more importance ala Secret Invasion.
I have read *some*, and I got no beef with Sam being the model for the PHYSICAL depiction of Nick Fury in the ultimates. Well, not too much. I got issue with Fury having a tie more than having a specific skin tone. As for Sam being the model, I think unintentionally by trying to make him look somewhat different - they often make him look more like a mad fit Tyler Perry.
And Sam is a great action star and a well-deserved cult figure no doubt, but he is SAM. Not for one second does he seem like anyone else. I'd prefer they got someone unknown. and someone with a military career or mind.
watchmen gonna spoil me with a "who the hell is that???" cast. in fact, after G4 Watchmen day - I am amped for that or nothing!
My comment about "seeing wars" is actually a reference to Frank Castle in Dead Rising looking so much like the classic nick fury it is uncanny! anyways, it was a game reference.
