Wow that game was crazy! Almost makes up for the fact that the Steelers (w/ the refs help) won.

but you know, I really don't think Holmes got his second toe down. I really think he only got one down while the other never touched while he had control of the ball. Then again, I'll admit it was the right call not overturning the call. There was just not a clear enough pic to see to be sure and they called it a TD during the play.

Ero, gonna have to disagree with you on the thing with the refs...The Cards had some calls go their way that made a huge impact on the game, and they had a chance to win it it...They played a great game, so did the Steelers...That was as good if not better than last year's game...

I was watching the game with at least 3 guys that played WR, 2 of which who were pulling for the Cards...All 3 agreed he got his feet down...That was CRAZY man...What a game...Almost sad to see the NFL go this year...

Brett Favre Retires Again

Without the tearful public ceremony that accompanied his retirement announcement from the Green Bay Packers just 11 months ago, quarterback Brett Favre has told the New York Jets he is retiring.

Favre had instructed his agent, James "Bus" Cook, to inform the Jets on Wednesday that he is retiring. Jets team executives and coach Rex Ryan confirmed the retirement in a statement, saying they talked to Favre on Wednesday morning about his decision.

"I have great admiration for him as a player and a person. I wish him only the best in his life after football," Ryan said.

In an e-mail to ESPN's Ed Werder, Favre indicated he had no regrets about finishing his career with the Jets rather than with the Green Bay Packers franchise he represented for his previous 16 NFL seasons. He specifically praised Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum, team owner Woody Johnson and fired coach Eric Mangini -- and even mentioned Thomas Jones and Kerry Rhodes, both of whom were publicly critical of Favre after the team's collapse in the final month of the season prevented the Jets from making the playoffs.

"Mike and Woody, as well as the entire organization, have been nothing short of outstanding,'' Favre said in the e-mail. "My teammates -- Thomas and Kerry included -- were a pleasure to play with. Eric [Mangini] could not have been any better. I enjoyed playing for him. My time with the Jets was short, but I'm honored to be given that chance.''

Tannenbaum and Johnson were expected to hold a conference call at noon ET.

Favre's retirement will save the Jets his $13 million salary in salary cap space. The Jets are in one of the worst salary-cap situtations in the NFL.

He's gone for good. I think he learned his lesson about coming back and he even said later in the article that he felt himself giving out at the end and that he wasn't in the condition he needed to be in

Thank you. QFT. I had the firmest belief that Kurt Warner could pull off one last miracle, and the best game in Superbowl History would've been written, with a final score, 29-28 Cards. Too bad the refs all but made that impossible with one of the mot penalized Superbowls, I believe, ever. Cotdamn, that whole show was a microcosm of the season leading up: phantom penalties, close comebacks, defensive resurgences, and missed calls at the time when most flagrant.

The irony was as I was watching it on Sunday, the night prior I watched Rocky II, and the boxers' trunks of Rocky & Creed were the same as the two Superbowl teams. Also, The Cardinals throughout the playoffs were riding Rocky's mantra of "Shock the World". (too bad Apollo Creed didn't win in the end.)

No, I was just stating that I shouldn't have watched Rocky II the night before the SuperBowl. Seeing that many coincidences, similarities, and signs pointing towards a Steelers' win left me with a bad feeling of an impending jinx. :disappoint:

Still a great flick, though. :p
