Where Do You Want To Live..?

With unemployment rates soaring, the days when you could be assured of finding a job in your preferred location are long gone. In these times of economic uncertainty, you may be forced to relocate, either to chase a new employment opportunity, or to reduce your living expenses.

Before you do however, you’ll need to carefully weigh the balance between your earning potential and the cost of living in the city or region you are thinking of relocating to. The high cost of living in some states, particularly those on the east and west coasts is largely offset by the fact that there are more high-paying jobs. Of course there are other factors to consider when trying to improve your quality of life, like the weather and the ratio of cities to rural areas.

But whether you can earn a solid living is probably the first thing you’ll need to know. The following map shows income trends by state and highlights some of the most and least affordable cities in the US based on some of the largest budget items for individuals and families.

A couple of years ago I decided to leave my high paid job to move to a smaller city in the coast. Quality of life was the reason and I do not regret it for a single moment. Living next to the sea is worth everything :)

I love living in Florida. Between the beaches available, the historic sites, other attractions, the quality of life, and other variables, you can't beat it.

People get paid way too much here in San Diego. We're investing our time here so when we retire we'll be set anywhere. Come live here! It's hard to find good help and people get paid for just showing up to work :)

Haha, there are tons of homes for sale in my neighborhood. A job? Yes, that's the problem. Once you get one out here you better hold on to it. It's insane trying to find work.

Oviedo, Spain is my destination of choice in the area. I'd like to live there at least five years, practicing my Spanish & Portuguese, whilst learning French, too.

I'm getting abit paranoid though about the state of affairs in the world now, and I'm not sure if it'd be safer to live high in the Andes or on an unmarked island somewhere in Micronesia. Maybe Northwestern Canada is a good option as well, but only if the world truly is to crumble. Not sure how or why I envision the world ending, since I don't follow politics or The History Channel. :silly:

I wanna go back to St. Petersburg sometime soon as well.

I'd choose a forgotten third world country in the south with a funky name, where everything i say is the law and beautiful 'wimem' celebrate my greatness with exotic semi nude dances (which happens to be the only law i've came up with)

does it have to be on this planet?

I am sort of not the big on the idea of being terrestrial, anymore.
