Oh yeah LeBron's will win no doubt! Or else my "prediction" would look silly. :p

What a spectacular performance by the Lakers tonight in that blowout win against the Nuggets. Yes, they advance to the finals, yay!
I really didn't think the Lakers will win tonight's game, I though that they would have won it in 7 games. They played with so much poise.
Great job Lakers!

Unlike last night, I didn't think that the Lakers would fail to close...Odom, whatever was wrong with him, isn't hurt anymore...The Lakers punished the Nugs with skill, and it became painfully obvious that when they couldn't thug their way through, they would simply just not have the talent and depth...Only a couple of the Nugs showed up to play, and for all the talk about his leadership, Chancey B. was not present...
Lakers vs Magic, and this will be one entertaining series...

Sorry, couldn't help but dig this one up, the irony...Ooooh the irony, cdr...Don't feel bad, everyone in sports talk world went trendy, and are having a nice big bowl of crow this morning...darklighter1 wrote:I don't know Ube...I see a fat Lakers team that is resting on their rep and a hungry Denver team looking to make a name for itself. I'm picking Nuggets in 6 and Cavs in 5.
But I still love ya brother! ;)
That said, I'm going to make a trendy pick, and say that L.A. will win the championship this year...Even though they are the favorites, the Magic did beat them in the regular season...I didn't watch the games though, so I don't know the flow of it, but wins are wins..!
I think the Lakers Win in 6...

What's the reason that a good number of people hate the Lakers so much?

Re: 2008-09 NBA General Discussion Thread
They are a pompous team that is run by a coach who is so full of himself that when he addresses anyone it looks like he is put out to have to share his brilliance with such inferior people (you and me). The top star on the team skated through a rape trial that he bought himself out of (I don't think he was guilty I just hate when famous people buy their way out of trouble) and is generally so out of touch and in love with himself that he talked the owner into not only firing his coach (even though I hated him) but booting the player most responsible for getting three championships out of town.
Shaq was the true leader of that squad and Kobe's jealousy got him shipped out of town so if he never wins another championship...it'll be too soon. He and A-Rod are to me the epitome of what is wrong with pro sports. Guys that love themselves and put themselves above the team in every manner and yet want everyone to love them and can't understand when people don't.
And the LA fans...not the regular people..well some of them too but mostly the movie stars that go to the games just to be seen. Not at Angels games...not at Dodgers...and God no! never at the Clippers or Kings but you get the Lakers on a national TV game and BLAM there they are mugging for the camera trying to get close to Jack Nicholson. I mean Diane Canon? Give it up already ok?
Back in the day I disliked them for the whole Showtime thing but always loved Magic...but these guys are the New York Yankees of basketball. They just give off an air of it's owed to them and no one else deserves to be on the court with them. I think it all comes down to "pompous" being the best word to describe them.
I hope you guys aren't mad cause I love you guys, I just despise your favorite team.

Wow man...as much as I respect all you just said, I totally disagree. I guess everyone is entitled to his opinion.
Phil Jackson is arguably the greatest basketball coach of all time. And to me, Shaq is the one with the attitude problems and not Kobe. You know, everyone seems to be blaming Kobe for the beef and both of them had the beef together, they both said bad words to each other. I would highly disagree with you calling Shaq a "team leader" man. That guy needs to grow up -- it's evident even till now. I hope you were watching NBA when he got jealous that Dwight Howard is rising up as the dominant center in the league. When they played the Orlando Magic, he tried everything to prove his case and he was just too old and unfit to even play a good amount of minutes for the game. So yeah, him at 36 trying to go mano y mano with a 23 year old. And Dwight Howard did the right thing by telling reporters "I respect my elders."
LoL most of the reasons you said you hate them for is why I like them. I actually like seeing the celebrities @ Staples Center during any Laker home game, it makes basketball even that more fun to watch.
Anyways though, what are you guys opinion about King James' unsportsmanlike behavior after the Cavs game 6 loss @ the Amway Arena?
