What the fuck..? If I had posted this, Raum and Ayhja would have just completely sidetracked the discussion by obsessing about the true definition/what is meant by love and trust lol...
So since they aren't going to, I will. I am not a lingual king by any means, but I do know that many languages have more than just one word for love. The ones that seem to get the most attention are the four Greek forms, but I know there are many more
The tone of the original post seemed to emphasize romantic love. With respect to this, I think it depends on the person. For example, I have a tendency to forgive too easily. If my girl cheated on me, it is my biggest fear that I would fall into a realm where I wouldn't really trust her but I would still love her, despite my biggest efforts not to. To quote the scholarly movie, Dumb and Dumberer, "I can't help my heart!"
Now as far as other kinds of love go, this can be very different. I think trust and love are not correlated in any significant way when it comes to family. In a song, rapper Brother Ali, after describing how his family and particularly his mom has hurt him by violating his trust and basically selling him out to the police, says explicitly about his mom, "It's not that I don't love you, it's more that I don't trust you."
I'm sure there are different breakdowns of the word trust but I think we will leave it at this for now!

Re: Love and trust
she aked specifically in a "relationship" context. That isolates the use of the word. However, what I said holds true with all seven contexts for "love", and all four contexts for "trust".Aemeth wrote:What the fuck..? So? I have made specific clarifications before that just get ignored lol...she aked specifically in a "relationship" context. That isolates the use of the word.
This topic intrigues me, I don't want to let it die...
When you say "it applies to all forms" what statement(s) specifically where you referring to? Some I could see it working; others parts of your posts, I don't know...

Re: Love and trust
Here is the implications:
If you do not know what ways someone can be trusted, you can at most be in love with the idea of them that you foster. Until you KNOW with certainty how a person responds to being entrusted - and you accept that, even if they can't be trusted - you simplly can not love *them* - even if they are a recipent of love you have for *humanity.*

Re: Love and trust
Isn't there some form of love that could violate this?even if they are a recipent of love you have for *humanity.*
Or what if, perhaps, you applied your trust for humanity in general to an individual you don't know...Then could you love them, broadly speaking?

I believe they are not mutually exclusive but rather complementary to each other.

Re: Love and trust
Can I just bring this thread back up to co-sign on the quote Raum posted initially?
I THINK I CAN!
Great way to look at it, man.
