The New Jersey Nets have agreed in principal to send Vince Carter and Ryan Anderson to the Orlando Magic for Rafer Alston, Tony Battie and Courtney Lee, two league executives told Yahoo! Sports.
The Nets will draft Louisville shooting guard Terrence Willams at No. 11, if he’s still available.
OK what's up with this very trade? Not a good one in my opinion! I though the Orlando Magic should have kept Rafer Alston if not anything else, oh well, we'll see how it plays out.
Why keep Alston when you have Jameer Nelson coming back? I think it's a great trade for the Magic
"If there were no eternal consciousness in a man, if at the bottom of everything there were only a wild ferment, a power that twisting in dark passions produced everything great or inconsequential; if an unfathomable insatiable emptiness lay hid beneath everything, what would life be but despair?"
Actually I take what I said back...thinking about it, it's a great trade. I totally forgot that they have a backup veteran point guard in Anthony Johnson. As AYHJA says, the east will be something very serious next season.
Somewhere in the midst of injuries and a dude named Kobe Bryant, we forget that Vince Carter is probably still the best athlete in the NBA...Man, Orlando has nothing but GUNS now dude, fuck..! Nelson shoots 45% from behind the arc...Vince Carter shoots about 40%...Turk about 40%...Lewis about 40%...
What the fuck man..? Who in the east decided to let this shit go down..? Wow...The Magic are my 2nd favorite team to watch, this is crazy...Oh, I forgot to mention they have Superman in the middle...Healthy Orlando = trouble for the East...
While I think this is a really good trade for the Magic, I'm not sure it is a huge upgrade. First off, Hedo opted out of his contract and is looking for a big-money contract which the Magic most likely can no longer afford with the contract extensions of Howard and Nelson, and the pick-up of VC's huge contract. So the pretty much traded Hedo for Vince. Upgrade sure, but not to the point where they will dominate the East. Plus I think they still have a hole at the 4 spot. They need better rebounding even w/ Howard being a monster on the glass. Lewis imo, is better at the 3, and someone like Gortat at the 4 to help rebound and defend. And Howard needs to work on his offensive game, and the whole teams needs to hit free throws. But they did get VC who when healthy can close/win a game as good as anyone not named Kobe.
It's kinda like the Cavs trade for Shaq. It makes them a little better, but does little to address the main holes on the team.
