I think you mean "home premium" vs "ultimate".
Check here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Vista_editions
It looks like ultimate doesn't have much benefit. I don't use Vista so someone else may be able to provide more info.

Yeah I do mean home premium. There is no other sort of premium. I have read that. Its helpful thanks.
But at the same time i wanna hear the user experience. If there is anything specifically worth getting the ultimate version for ?
Ayhja ? Anything you wanna say or WAI ?

If it will be a home computer then ultimate is not worth it. As I understand Ultimate has many extras that may be useful in corporate networking (for example), but useless to a home environment.

Re: Vista Premium or Ulitmate
I have ultimate, and have never used the 'Home' version of any windows product...The only limitations that I have experienced with non premium of professional versions is indeed as bd55 said, with networking...There are some extras, and when it comes to me and software, I would rather have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it...I don't know what the price difference is, but I would consider the Premium for sure if they may be considering giving you a cheaper upgrade when Windows 7 comes out next year...That's the one you're gonna want, trust me...

Well Dell is currently doing a deal that you will get the free upgrade with windows 7 when it does come out. Im surely looking at Ultimate for the exact reasons as you said A. Id rather have it and not need than need it and not have it. Its only a couple hunderd bucks which i can easily afford. I budgeted around $2500. So yeah its looking good so far. Although im kicking myself for missing out on an upgrade from a 2.1ghz processor to 2.53 ghz processor for only $16 . But yeah its looking like im getting the ultimate version so far.

Windows 7 upgrade is certainly a good reason. I can only imagine its price tag once it is out and unlike vista, it seems it will actually be a good os. We'll see.

Not sure what you mean. I've been using Vista only since January 2007 and it's by far the best Windows OS released. I actually hated going back to work and using Windows XP.bd55 wrote:Windows 7 upgrade is certainly a good reason.
