The interesting thing is, I consumed their albums in this order:

first I found the Melody A.M. remix album, then a couple months later, I decided I liked the sound, so I searched for some more; I found the double box-set of The Understanding lp, along with the companion B-sides remixes. I actually waited nearly six months afterward before I listened to their debut tracklisting.

I might prefer The Understanding that much more because I listened to it first.

What Else Is There? remains one of my favorite songs to this day...

In total agreement.

The funny thing is, for whatever reason I was listening to this song, along with Thievery Corporation's The Richest Man in Babylon, while I was watching the film Black Hawk Down, and now, whenever I listen to/watch one of the above, it reminds me of the other.

I think there is a distinct helicopter-like sound at the beginning and end of the song that really cemented its association to the flick.
