Re: Windows 7
zap, if you find some decent links to an .iso, please do share...I'm feeling quite lazy atm, and my internet speed has been cut in half on the download side, so trial and error isn't on my todo list today...

Re: Windows 7
I have some legitimate XP and 2K licenses but I guess I don't use them. I use "activation work-arounds" for convenience.
If I reinstall / reformat there is no way I'm contacting M$ to get activated. I own the software, I'll use it as I like. The End User License is bollocks.
Win 7 is getting good press compared to Vista - in some sections of the community. There are some nice benefits compared to Vista.
Eventually I may move to it... for now it will just be a test-bed for things I need to ensure compatibility with or specifically need 64bit memory addressing. XP will stay for now.

Oh hey sure - here you go:
http://www.rlslog.net/microsoft-windows ... 6-x64-grp/
Soz for being lazy and not synthesising links but stuff seems to go down so rapidly I'll just post the site I'm getting RS links off. Come to think of it, I'm not sure M$ will bother even trying to take these down...
When my download finishes I'll check the sha1/md5/crc32 hashes but I'm using ghostly's post number 9 RS links at the moment.
There are torrents available on both mininova and piratebay.
If people want more info and hashes let me know :)

Re: Windows 7
Microsoft just never defended Vista. Those that use it (and have at least 2GB RAM) enjoy it. Heck, it works perfectly on laptops with a Pentium M and even Pentium 4 systems. I've been using Vista for a year and a half without any complaints, mainly due to slight issues that SP1 resolved. So Windows 7 won't be a major adjustment for me...since Windows 7 is just a revision/improvement of Windows Vista.zaphodz wrote:Win 7 is getting good press compared to Vista - in some sections of the community. Re: Windows 7
I think I'm going to keep the RC2 on my laptop, and then install the RTM on my desktop...I don't see a viable option to work around activation just yet, so I won't worry with it on my main machine...But I have a good copy I can put in the AFS if M$ decides to start reporting links...

Re: Windows 7
Well both the x86 and x64 Win 7 RTM builds install fine. They show 30 days left in which to activate.
Both show up as Windows 7 Ultimate in system properties.
I hear you can keep re-arming it for 120 days at a time. I'll give that a go later and see if it works.

You must have high tolerance, Zaph. I couldn't stand to keep re-arming something every 120 days.
If any links are down, please send me a PM!
