Quest 'for a firmer behind' kills former Miss Argentina

THE death of a former Miss Argentina in her quest for a firmer bum has once again thrown the growing obsession with the perfectly toned body into the spotlight.

Solange Magnano, a 38-year-old married mother of twins, died of a pulmonary embolism days after booking herself in for a buttock lift at a hospital in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires

Ms Magnano, who was Miss Argentina in 1994, had travelled with a friend to a clinic run by Monica Portnoy -- which, according to reports in the Argentinian press, performs an average of 15 such procedures daily.

But when complications developed during the operation, which involves injections of the substance Polimetilmetacrilate in the buttocks, the international model was rushed to hospital with acute respiratory deficiency.

A close friend, fashion designer Roberto Piazza, said the striking catwalk queen had "lost her life to have a slightly firmer behind".

This plastic surgery stuff is so damn stupid to me. Surgery carries enough risk with it that you should only do it if you need to....not because you want to. No one deserves to die...but it sure doesn't make me 100% sympathetic when she died from something so completely unnecessary.

what is FUCKING ABSURD is someone somewhere can't slap that bitch for spending enough money to feed thirty people for a month with the money she was using to shoot her ass up for cosmetic reasons. In this day and age, in this time, small allowances for pleasure and comfort are acceptable, but how can someone sit and think "i need a tighter ass surgery" when people the whole world over are suffering and starving and dying.

I am glad she died, if only to prevent other people from doing such stupid shit to their bodies; she is basically a fucking martyr for common sense.

Yeah but you know damn well that her death isn't going to change the culture we live in. People die getting unnecessary plastic surgery all the time. I hadn't even thought of how much this all costs tho....I bet if you added up the amount of money people have spent on purely unnecessary cosmetic surgery (so take away burn victims, stuff like that) and the figure would be so staggeringly high that people may change the way they feel about this, because you're right...for relatively cheap (compared to how much these broads are spending) we could go a long way in helping out people who need help.
