I havent done a meaningful post on here for a while so here goes. I have been doing this paper over the summer called drama and performance. In it we studied three plays; The Bacchae, Woyzeck and Jeannie Once. I loved the bacchae and woyzeck.

We had a block course last week where we came in for a week to just do the plays and it was amazing. We did random things like run in space and warm up exercises for drama. It was incredible. We had like just over 25 people in class and only 4 guys the rest girls. We basically divided into groups later on and worked on each of the different plays. I chose to work with the Bacchae.

For those who are unfamiliar with the play its about Dionsyus getting revenge on his mortal family of Thebes for disowning his mother Semele and not believing that he was born of Zeus . DIonsyus comes back to Thebes and destroys Pentheus; the now king and cousin of his and has him murdered by the hands of his own mother.

We stylised the play in around 1970's in the time of top level gangsta's and hippies. It worked really well.I got to play Dionsysus who is the greek god of Wine and theatre. So that was cool. I got to give him my own spin and a very playful character. IT was amazing.
