Researchers Zheng Cui and Mark Willingham, and a team of eight others, have discovered a strain of mice that are immune to cancer. When cancer cells are injected into the mice, they are destroyed. But even better, mice that have established tumors are completely cured by injections of white blood cells from the cancer resistant strain.

Highly aggressive cancers and very large tumors were eradicated when the white blood cells from the mutant mice were injected into normal mice. And the normal mice were then protected from future cancers, even normally lethal doses of injected cancer cells.

The immunity is inherited in the mutant strain, and the pattern of inheritance indicates that it is caused by a single mutation, as if a switch had been thrown to make the white blood cells super effective at killing cancers. This gives the researchers hope that a drug can be made to target that switch in humans.

The mechanism does not involve T-cells, the cells that have to be exposed to a pathogen in order to kill it. Instead, the effect is based on the innate response of macrophages, neutrophils, and natural killer cells -- cells that do not need pre-exposure to the disease.

The mutation appears to have no side-effects, and does not harm the organism.

While the trait has only been seen in mice at this point, humans have an even stronger immune response than mice, because they must live longer before they can reproduce. So the effect in humans may be correspondingly higher.

Always knew the cure for the Big C would ultimately be simplicity at it's finest.

I googled this subject further and apparently this was discovered in 2003, http://www.futurepundit.com/archives/001205.html

Also, something interesting to note, apparently aspirin may help with cancer as well
A recent study depicts that the regular intake of aspirin may prevent cancer from spreading as well it can snap the fear of death from the cancer patients.

The study by Harvard Medical School shows that the patients suffering from Breast cancer and who take aspirin regularly may be able to cut the risk of death by 50 percent.

In this study, the researches have taken the survey samples from 1976 to 2006 of more than 4,000 registered nurses which depicts that the women who tookaspirin regularly snapped their risk of having the cancer spread by 60 percent and further reduced the death rate from breast cancer by 71 percent.

Researchers also came up with the theory that aspirin may help control cancer by fighting inflammation. As study depicts that Breast cancers generates more inflammatory chemicals than normal breast cells. Lab tests prove thataspirin keeps breast tumor cells from spreading and entering into other tissue.

A study conducted in the month of August, also depicted that aspirin offers a positive benefit against colon cancer.

However, Researchers warn that more study is needed to support the validity of the above mentioned facts and theories to reach to a concrete solution and thus they caution thataspirin therapy should not be taken up for cancer until and unless facts proves as routine intake of aspirin may thin blood, and further can cause gastric bleeding amongst the patients undergoing chemotherapy or other cancer treatments.

I know it's the conspiracy theorist in me but I really believe they've had some extreme shit that can cure cancer for a long time now but it would wipe out half the pharma companies and doctor's gold lined pockets to expose this. I remember watching a guy on 60 Minutes about 3 to 4 years ago claiming he had the solution and it was swept under the rug. It'll be interesting to see where this goes especially after reading the Splash article.

My sentiments exactly. As Chris Rock said in his '99 Bigger & Blacker HBO special, There ain't no money in the cure. They may have a cure for AIDS, but instead they'll just sell drugs to help you live with it.

Exactly! Aids and Cancer keep the medical professions in business practically all alone.

Yup. Money is in the treatment, not the cure.

conspiracy theory about cancer cure is very unlikely, too many people working on it and it involves a progression of knowledge rather than one off discovery. also, cancers are very different , cure for one would not necessarily work on another. more likely is the suppression of side effects of a drug to make money, bit like tobacco.
