Choosing a Smartphone

#1

Post by AYHJA »

I really, really want to upgrade and get a new phone...But I'm not really interested in ponying up all that cash...I mean, I kinda just want to get a netbook and call it a day, but I really like having a powerful mobile device in my pocket...The thing is, the ones that I really like, I can't decide for one reason or the other...Carrier issues and shit like that have made this more complicated than I care to think of...

The first phone, and primary runner up is the HTC HD2 from T-Mobile...

T-Mobile has shitty coverage in my native area, but that doesn't matter as much now that I'm traveling quite a bit...The phone is running Windows Mobile 6, which would be fantastic...If Windows Mobile 7 wasn't just around the corner and will only work on newer devices designed for it...

The second phone is the HTC EVO™ 4G, the brother of the HD2...

But its on Sprint, which is by far the shittiest carrier I can think of...That phone has HDMI output, a fucking kickstand, Droid...It's awesome, more awesome than then HD2, but no sim card...Can't get down without a Sim...And I don't know if it can be unlocked...

The third phone, and not really under too much more consideration at this point, is the iphone 4...I'm only thinking about this one because I have AT&T and not too many complaints about them...Of course, they offer the Blackberry, but I just don't think I want one of those...I know they're solid devices, but...I like the idea of playing hard and working if need be for my phone...

What Smartphone's do you guys have/recommend..?

The Nokia E71. The E72 isn't steel-encased and doesn't have the manly weight of it's predecessor, even if it does have a better camera. The OS is great & it comes with great apps & is easy to customize. Nuff said.

Have used iphone 3gs & 4. both good phones but with major drawbacks.
on the iphone 4 the new OS seems to have sorted out most of the issues with previos phones. very user friendly & intuitive. there is an issue with the recpetion & i think Apple have sorted out a patch but i havent dl it yet.

i would only fork out for these if you have the spare cash.

Avoid the iPhone 4 unless you want to use duct tape to fix it's reception problems. Those issues are a hardware design flaw and cannot be "fixed" with a software patch.

When you finally do all the filtering and narrowing down the list of what you want, the consensus is that the best two smart phones out there is the iPhone and BlackBerry. I personally have the iPhone 3G.

Now, choosing between the two of them (iPhone & BlackBerry) totally depends on what you want. iPhone seems to have been made towards more entertainment in mind while the BlackBerry is strictly a very business and 'formal' phone. Extremely easy to check your e-mail and it has this BlackBerry Messenger thing which is really cool (like an MSN Messenger for BlackBerrys between people who have BlackBerrys).

Both of them are really good though and I agree that they are the best out there. I have the iPhone, but I would say you should go for a BlackBerry just because it gets the nod with battery life. iPhone uses a lot of battery life because the touch screen technology requires more battery life anyway.
It is better to try and fail than to fail to try.

Man...I think that when its all said and done..?

http://now.sprint.com/firsts/evo4g/

That's the phone for me...Waiting for something better to come out, I just don't think is going to happen...That shit is just awesome...I think I'm going to get it and see if I can get a month to month plan, and just knock down my AT&T phone on the most basic of packages...

The phone looks good. Ask lots of people who have used it though before you buy. Not many people use HTC from what I know so check very well the durability.
