Mozilla vs. Firefox

#1

Post by adp10 »

OK folks,
realize that both are from Mozilla, but could those of you who use either or tell me the basic differences b/w the 2 browsers...
plus, there's a new PR- Preview version of Firefox. They say it's more than a beta version, but not quite the final version...should I download it anyway?

Thanx for any help!

I don't think that they are really seperate, though I'm pretty sure that Firefox is more popular in terms of mods and extensions...If there are differences between the two, they are more than likely along the lines of the difference between a GMC and a Chevrolet...

I'm running the most recent version of Firefox, and it has crashed already twice as many times as the old version...But, not so much where I'd want to switch back...All of the extensions for the new version don't work though, so if you're used to having them, you should probably wait a while...

Firefox is the browser used within mozilla, Firefox(and pheonix before that) is used as a test bed if you like to prove new features tha get put into the mozilla application suite, it also has the added benifit of going head to head against the likes of IE, Opera etc and beating them hands down imho.
The PR release of firefox is whats usually termed as a candidate release, this means that they think they have ironed out all bugs and once anything left over gets sorted it will be moved to the full release.

At least thats my understanding of it /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Well now it is a full release, and that is the version I am currently running.

It's sweet!
