Got an HTC Evo 4G

#1

Post by AYHJA »

So, I finally broke down and got a smartphone...It just got to a great price and I was sure that I wasn't going to find it any cheaper...

I have a rooted HTC Evo 4G running Android 2.2 (Froyo) and it has literally changed my life...I don't know what dumb-asses do with smartphones, but for a geek..? It's a fucking dream..!

Of course, the best thing about Android is the apps...So far so good, I have found quite a few...Maybe we can use this thread to chop it up about the various apps and maybe even share a few...

Man, its nothing short of a revolution...I simply can't believe all the shit that it does...From making sure I never hit a store and forget my rewards card to price shopping to keeping up with how much money I'm spending on gas to my fucking MPG's..! The coverage is much better than my AT&T phone, and for all the shit that it does, the price per month isn't bad...The HDMI out is just a bonus few, if any, other phones offer...Comes highly recommended...Shit, I even got an app that will let me use my phone as a mouse should I be traveling and forget mine...Unbelievable capabilities...

This weekend I'll be upgrading from my ancient (3 years old) Palm Centro. I'll be going with the Verizon (best coverage around here) Droid X2. Love the huge screen, the dual processors and yes, all the effing apps you can shake a phone at. It too has the HDMI out which I can't wait to try out. Though 4G is here, I decided to stay with the 3G for now; it's plenty fast for what I need at the moment and near future.

Yeah, a bonus to Sprint is that its CDMA, which means I can roam on Verizon if need be, and Cellular South which is big here, is also CDMA...Unlimited roaming..!

I've debated it but I require no contract on a phone so it's either Virgin Mobile (Sprint network) or Boost Mobile at the moment. I'd like the new WP7 phone from Verizon but I don't do contracts and I don't like that they canned their unlimited data plans.
If any links are down, please send me a PM!

I lucked out in that I already had an unlimited data plan and was grandfathered in. Gotta have it to watch my mobile porn! LOL
