Prayer..

Prayer..

#1

Post by Aemeth »

I am beginning to understand the power of prayer yet lose the perception of it all together at teh same time..

If God has everything planned out, and knows how all our choices will result, and everything of that nature..

Does he really need prayer?

I know it is crucial to understanding all of what we can of God's nature, but how?

I believe that prayer is crucial for 2 reasons:

First, it is a way for us to communicate with God and to be on a personal relation with him.

Second, I believe that God intercedes differently with prayer. I believe that when God hears our prayers, He will do something differently and intercede on our behalf.
"If there were no eternal consciousness in a man, if at the bottom of everything there were only a wild ferment, a power that twisting in dark passions produced everything great or inconsequential; if an unfathomable insatiable emptiness lay hid beneath everything, what would life be but despair?"

Soren Kierkegaard

Our prayers are just the way we keep in touch with our god...simple as that.

For some it may be, but for most I believe its the actual spoken words we whisper.

I am not a very religious person. At most I am an agnostic (someone who believes there is something bigger out there but does not necesarily link it to a particular religion). However I was brought up as a Catholic and as far as I remember God has gave men free will, so choices should exist. Prayer on the other hand is a way of clearing our souls of any doubts, problems, etc. we might have. It is the spiritual equivalent of goint to a psychologist and it does help to get things of our heart. It is the plain and simple "somebody is listening" relief.
