Tsunami...

Post by Aemeth »

Alright, have many hours of careful thought I think I have an explanation..

I am not a person to meditate on the past in scenarios when it is not appropriate. I think this may be one of those things. Our (sorry, my) minds our not constantly pondering the great loss of those lost, because they are dead. There is nothing we can do about that. All we can do is move on and try to help those who are still suffering from the effects. But they have already lost what cannot be repaid.

When AYHJA brought up the issue of giving up my life for them, I knew I would, but couldnt figure out why. I think it is because that is going back to a time when they were still alive. I could have changed something then regarding all those people.

I have 'shed tears and lost sleep' over the stories I hear of people, children in other countries being treated horribly, starving, and working 16 hour days to make shoes they could never afford to buy. To quote Kweli, he says somethin like "kid's got no clothes, but got a gun..now where the fuck he pull that out from?". I feel so awful about these kinds of matters, I think, because that is something I can change.

The one reason I would like to "make it" either rapping, swimming, or business-wise, is not for the money and all that, but mainly to hold a position of influence where i can put some changes into action..

DeEje,

you constantly demonstrate how close you are to REALLY getting it, man.

seriously, that was one of the highest compliments I could pay a man. That and to say, I your aspirations are admirable, but you need learn to fucus that direction with effective communication skills.

vertical,

it's no fun when you actually understand it. Then we can't take you to the flame thread!

Nah....I think ppl are just tired of this subject. I know I am

That's part of the problem too, TT; we got so swamped with images that overwhelmed our minds. We heard stories that ripped at our souls. It's exhausting to be at that level of caring for so long. I know I started feeling burned out after working in the hospital for a long time; broken and burned bodies take their toll on you.

But in this situation, the need continues far beyond what many of us can comprehend and tolerate emotionally. Thank God, there are still those over there (and here too) that have the strength to carry on the relief efforts.

I agree with you. We can only be thankful that there are people who give their time like they do. It's a real blessing to the people over there.

I've got an acquaintance (friend of a friend) who is over there as part of the US Navy's efforts. The stories he's sent are overwhelming, I send him periodic emails letting him know how appreciated their efforts are. I've tried to do my little part through donating to the Red Cross. There's a large part of me that wishes I could go over there to help in any small way, but that's not a practical possibility. All I can do is pray and support monitarily when I can.

That's what I do also. I know 2 people over there that are helping. They are helping individually though and not through any organization. It's amazing to hear the stories, you're right.

What a tragedy...
