The Reason For So Many Religions, Cultures And Gods
I have come across some very good debate on the ADN regarding god and i have seen some very ill-concevied ideas presented and not supported ideas ....................I created this thread so we can debate on the fact if u beilive that ur god is the one true god then why do u think there are so many different religions and cultures in the world today?
If there is one true god then why did that god let the creation of these new gods which are absolutley false and why do they still seize to exist and if beliveing in these new gods would be considered a sin to this one tru god ??
I will wait for others to give in detailed explanations b4 i wud do mine
And this time i wud actually like to read some ideas that do hav some basis and are explained carefully and if possible there be no Ambiguity and Contradiction

Of course everyone believes that their God is the real God or they wouldn't believe in them.
I think that there are many gods because of our human natures. People don't like a certain god so they create their own that fits their needs.

The Creation of 1984...
QUOTE(Deepak)...why do u think there are so many different religions and cultures in the world today?
The reason for so many religions and cultures in the world today can probably be traced back to the seperation of the people, which the bible called \"The Tower of Babel\" if I'm not mistaken...It is, however, worth noting that even though the language and practices are not the same, the messages is universal...I think that culture differences come from a variety of reasons, including economical, enviromental, and social reasons...
QUOTE(Deepak)If there is one true god then why did that god let the creation of these new gods which are absolutley false and why do they still seize to exist and if beliveing in these new gods would be considered a sin to this one tru god ??
More or less, I think that if God knew he was God, he wouldn't be God...I think there is a substance, a catalyst if you will, that reacted with the energy of the universe and compounded matter of all kinds...The easiest way I can think to explain it, may still not be understood...
There was a movie that came out in the 80's called Gremlins...There was this little mythical creature that could exist as long as certain rules were followed...
* It was to have no water
* It could not eat after midnight
* No direct contact with sunlight
Anyway, of course the rules were broken, the "Mogwai" (named Gizmo) spawned a bunch of terrible little fuckers called Gremlins...Though they were all spawned in the same manner, one of them was born a leader, and had a white stripe down the middle of his head...
These creatures were no where near the same creature as Gizmo, and were very different in looks and nature...You would not consider Gizmo a father, anymore than you would consider "The Catalyst" God...I believe that once the initial reaction was made, a superior element was born, and that superior element is what I call The Lord of the Universe...
Of course, if you can follow my logic, then just as the Superior Element was born, so were several other, but lesser elements, and so forth...

What I Would Say if he hadn't said it first...
QUOTE(Rahoroth)More or less, I think that if God knew he was God, he wouldn't be God...
Basically, that means that the universe as we know it is the child of meaningful coincidence...
As C.G. Jung said in "Memories, Dreams, Reflections":
If the Creator were conscious of Himself, He would not need conscious creatures; nor is it probable that the extremely indirect methods of creation, which squander millions of years upon the development of countless species and creatures, are the outcome of purposeful intention. Natural history tells us of a haphazard and casual transformation of species over hundreds of millions of years of devouring and being devoured. The biological and political history of man is an elaborate repetition of the same thing. But the history of the mind offers a different picture. Here the miracle of reflecting consciousness intervenes -- the second cosmogony...The importance of consciousness is so great that one cannot help suspecting the element of meaning to be concealed somewhere within all the monstrous, apparently senseless biological turmoil, and that the road to its manifestation was ultimately found on the level of warm-blooded vertebrates possessed of a differentiated brain -- found as if by chance, unintended and unforeseen, and yet somehow sensed, felt and groped for out of some dark urge...
You pickin' up what I'm puttin' down on that one..?

No I don't get it. It doesn't make any sense. How could God, who is all-knowing, created the universe, and all the other shit, not be conscious of himself? He's conscious of himself and know's that he's God.

AYHJA, would consider yourself a Cosmic Humanist? A lot of your views (not all) seem to be in accordance to what they believe..
Anyway, I think God is conscious, since I believe He is personal. Do (A) you think God is personal then? How can a personal God be unaware of Himself..? Iono if I am asking the right thing, Ill think about it..

More shit analogies, but good for discussion...
@ Trashtalkr...
If you really think about what I said, and look into that piece I quoted, you'll see why I might feel the way...I want you to really, really ask youself this question...Or rather, this idea...
GOD...
We are all probably guilty of putting God on too many shoes...But...To a being that knows EVERYTHING there is to know...Do you know how insignificant that makes us..?
Think of it on a closer level...How do you buy a gift for somone that has everything..? If you were a millionaire, and were able to buy everything it is you could ever want, what meaning would Christmas gifts have for you..?
Furthermore, I never said God created the universe, I think God (and when I say God, I do mean Lord of the Universe) is a by product of an awesome ass reaction of matter...I know the example was fucked, but the Gizmo bit is as good a comparison that I could make...
What fun would baseball be for you, if you could chart the exact movement of the pitch, slow it down even, move through progression, sign the ball, and then move back to the batters box and hit a homerun that went into the next state...
OK, LoL, you'd probably think that shit was awesome for a little while, but still...It would be MAD fucking boring...
Why would a God who is able to do and see MUCH more shit that we could even begin to comprehend raise up out of his multi-dimensional Lazy boy and create...Humans...On purpose..? I think God may have been strolling through the galaxy in a pimped out fuckin' EL Deville, and saw lesser "Gods" (Beings created of the same process as he, but not as "powerful" fuckin' with a couple neat toys...Stopped by for a minute...Dropped some knowledge on them, and was out...
And before you say that sounds fucked up, I bet you with that thesis I could answer ALOT more questions that you could think of, and prove it on top of that...Granted, to understand some of my views, you will have to undergo the not so easy task of unlearning what you have learned to be able to look at things objectively...
@ DeEje
I have never heard of the term Cosmic Humanist before reading it just now...I consider myself a free thinker, and a whore to pure logic in according to known truths and constants...My God is the opposite side of a system that continues to balance itself...
I don't mean to say that God isn't conscious...And I do think God is VERY personal...By living, we all bear his mark, and carry a piece of him...How you answer to it however, is on you...
I think how you guys may keep missing the point of what I'm saying is because we put too much value on our cosmic weight...Every star in the galaxy has a solar system...Every single one...Our star is not even a big one...If we imagine our God as being one without flaw...Why would he create an imperfect system here on earth..?

That is attributed in my mind to original sin. I was under the impression everything WAS perfect till Eve decided the strawberries werent enough..
