An issue with ICQ

Hey guys .. I've got ICQ Pro 2003b .. I did have 2003a and was happy using it and ICQ Plus 3.5. Well something bad happened. In the split screen mode somehow the text box you type into disappeared, but you could still type in it and would register the characters being typed. I don't know how it happened and I forgot how to fix it .. I do know that an uninstall and reinstall didn't fix the situation, but when I installed 2003b over it everything was peachy.

Now to the guts of the story .. I can't use my ICQ Plus 3.5 now, and I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about either a new version (I googled and couldn't find one), or converting the ICQ Plus skins to the new type used by 2003b (yes I googled for that too and couldn't find anything helpful).

Anything helpful is appreciated .. Thanx.

Yikes...

I myself have never used ICQ much, I couldn't find much use for it really...Too many damn bots...While I can't offer any assistance there, I am now using something called GAIM that will connect you to any IM client that you can think of...And it's free, and much better than Trillian IMO...I'd give it a shot, I like it much better than most of the clients that I do use...

yeah I used to use Gaim when I had Redhat installed on my pc and I'm using Trillian also now. I've also heard of MirandaIM but haven't tried it myself. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem before.

I remember that the thing with the text box happened one other time and I did fix it, but I forgot how I did it. I think I replaced a windows system file and it worked but as to which one ... I can't remember.

I did find something pretty cool in my search .. I found a patch to remove the ads from the main window and the messaging windows.

I'm going to keep looking for a solution, but if I can't find anything then I'll just say the heck with it .. lol.

I'll also download both Gaim and MirandaIM and see how they go too.

Oh and I've found out about ICQ Plus ... apparently there isn't any way to use it with 2003b .. hopefully I can find a converter for the skins.

I just tried MirandaIM and Gaim ... they're not what I want to use even though they're good programs in their own right. Guess I'm sticking with 2003b.

Couldn't find anything on converting the skins either ... guess I'm just stuck.
