So do you think that college athletes should get paid?

Like the article suggests, student athletes on full rides should definitely NOT be paid...

Of course, what they are getting isn't what they are bringing in, but shit, that's life...Who doesn't feel like they are overworked and underpaid..? At my alma mater, the athletes had other students that went and bought their books and shit for them man, they don't have to do shit...

They should be allowed to work, if they have the time...But they shouldn't have any more allowance than they already have in the form of their scholarship...

I agree that they shouldn't get paid. It would ruin the atomsphere of the games. They play hard because they want the money. Giving it to them at that level wouldn't ruin the game

the reason i watch college sports is because it feels like they are the only pure ones left!

college athletes should be in it for the love of the game...not money!

they are there to get an education, and playing sports in the meantime helps them pay for their education...that's payment enough!

if you're good enough then you get to go pro...then become a rich showboating asshole.

You also have to look at what many of them are striving for in their college years... a pro contract. They already get a free ride, enjoy the status of the BMOC, have tutors, sport-friendly profs, and at the end of it all, a degree that is equal to the one I had to work my ass off for. Paying them for playing on top of all this would cause riots on campus. RIOTS I say!!!

So you TD are saying that you watch those colleges leagues, so someone set ups a show and they dont get paid?
I think they should get paid, as long they generate profits.
In a perfect world sport would just be sport.

C'mon Fercho...

It is just a sport though...Revenue MUST be generated, stadiums do not build themselves, and they definitely aren't maintained themselves...Most college students don't have to pay to attend games, and even though it is a money making Juggernaut, college athletes get spoiled enough man, I can promise you...

The NCAA can talk all the shit, and make all the rules they want...But, there will always be alumni with money around, and business owners that love their alma mater...You can't tell me that a college athlete isn't allowed to take out a student loan...Who is to say who pays them off..? How can you tell a college kid that if somebody slips them an envelope full of cash, that they can't spend the shit...? Please...College athletes are HaRdLy hurting as much as you would think...They get academic breaks and favortism and all kinds of perks not afforded to any student that can't sit in the front row in a skirt with no pannies on...

Sport can be just sport, but I'm not about to watch some muthafukas play basketball on a dirt court in the hot sun, when some dude can come along and make a killing selling Italian Ice cause we're trying to keep the sport pure...Money is going to be made, regardless...

Why not make sure the schools get the money, which is at least distrubuted where you can see it, in the form of new facilities and equipment...

Money will always get made but should the athletes benefit from that? I know that they get more than you think i.e. the cash in the envelope and shit like that.

They got too many benefits

perfectly put Ayhja...

of course colleges need to make money...not the players!

colleges have other things to pay for.....like.....teachers!
and stadiums, classrooms, maintenance, etc.

players are already there (for mostly free) to get an education, and yes, the lucky few will squeeze through and get a pro contract to make the big bucks...because that then becomes their job!

::sighs:: Why do people make posts that everyone already agrees on?

It's like last year when we were doing our controveral and highly debated persausion speeches, this girl did "homes should be required to have smoke detectors"

well of-fucking-course they should.

Just like colleges athletes shouldn't get paid, they have all the oppurtunities everyone else has, and they get shit easier than if god was walking through the campus.
