Protecting against Hackers

#1

Post by Logic »

Can someone please help me out? Someone is trying to hack me and I think they have been trying but not 100% sure.. I think my firewall has been blocking them but its only a matter of time...

I have ZoneAlarm (firewall)
Is there any better that I should get? Anything else to protect against this hacker?

I dont know if he is any good at hacking either.. But I know hes not ethical..

what makes you think you are getting hacked? If you came to this conclusion because you are getting little pop-up alerts from your firewall, take a deep breath and settle down for one second....it could very well be that you firewall is responding to benign things like DNS queries, DHCP server traffic or any number of other legit services that are not only not a threat but also very required for normal web page viewing and navigating.

If on the otherhand you are finding files on your computer you can not account for, or files missing you can not account for. Or if there seems to be a LOT of network activity even when you are not using your computer you may in fact have a hacker.

To help, we need to know more about your computer and hardware and software you are running with. Do you have broadband or dialup...on a local area network or direct connection to the internet?

what do you mean, he's been threatening you? He's contacted you directly? or some other threat? I've got the Norton Security Suite on mine at home (not that I NEED it right now, damned Comcast still hasn't hooked me up!).
