NBA Age Limit

As you've probably heard, David Stern is trying to get a 20 year old age limit on the NBA.

Do you think that it would hurt or help the NBA? SHould they have it?

it would help the NBA.....but I really hope they dont do it, because there are people who need to help out their families and need the money to support them and have the talent to play on the pro level, and i think it would be wrong of the NBA to turn them away because they arent of a certain age.

I mean....if you ask me, should players go to the NBA early and skip college or leave it after their freshmen year....I'd say no......but I think its essitial that there is a choice.

I don't think they should either. Basketball is different from any other sport in that you really don't have to be that big to play. YOu have to be mature and intelligent to play. You've gotta know strategy and everything like that. In other sports there is alot more strength involved (besides baseball but they have the minor leagues).

Players from high school can compete in the NBA. Not nearly as many as people think, but there are some. Let them play if they are good enough

Maybe you haven't heard the term "NBA body" Not any skinny guy can play in the NBA unless he's over 7 feet tall. LeBron James has an NBA body.....and people like him, who've already matured mentally and physically I think should have the CHOICE......I disagree with the choice they make on many occasions.....Dwight Howard...Sebstian Telfair.....a lot of those guys would have made a bigger impact on their future NBA teams if they'd have gone to college and refined their game against teams who tallest player isnt 6'3'' like in Highschool.

but then you gotta worry about what kind of lifestyle these kids will be livin' at 18!

Stern has a valid argument...but i think 18 is old enough...just gotta keep an eye on em!

I have mixed feelings about this...And what it boils down to, regardless of anything else I can think of...

If he's 18, he's allowed to train for 6 weeks, pick up a weapon, and go and kill other people...And risk being killed in the process...

He should be allowed to play basketball...An adult is an adult, maturity is a bunch of bullshit, if you're smart you're smart, if you're not, you're just not...I hate the maturity excuse, cause we all know some dumb fucks that are older than anybody here...

Oh Kobe Bryant, he's so mature, he's so this and that...Ahh fuck that...

I think Stern is trying to help out the college game, or something, and or prevent players from wasting time on the bench...I heard Charles Barkley say that people pay to see players, not prospects...Jermain Oneil is a perfect example of this, he bout rotted in Portland on the bench for 3 or 4 years...Coulda banged two of them shits out in college, and gone to a team taht could have used him much, more earlier...

You said that you think that Stern is trying to help the college game but wouldn't that hurt the NBA's future? He'd lose money by doing that. If this rule went into effect 5 years ago, Vince Carter, Amare, and King James wouldn't be in the NBA (well VC would be now). I don't think that they'd be the caliber of players that tehy are now.

Loosing money..? Heh...I can PROMISE you the NBA isn't doing that...It is a return investment to have players be seen before entering the NBA...Who is watching high school games..?

And for every impact rookie that comes out, there are a ton that just sit the bench...Kwame Brown..? There are tons of players that come out from HS, and aren't immediate implact players...There are more youngsters hurting the game, or well maybe not hurting it, but that could definitely use a little work...

I don't see how more polished, and well known players would hurt the NBA...I bet you don't know off off the top of your head the name of Carmello Anthony's high school...But I bet you know what college he went to...

And Vince Carter...I don't think he came out after his freshman season, he was at least a sophomore or a junior...

Melo....Oak Hill, I knew that off the top of my head, but thats for other reasons then it being marketed and such.

Man.....I'm on the fence here too, because let me tell you ayhja...in response to your statement about tons of HS players that come out for the NBA and dont make an impact......For every 1 highschool player you name who doesnt have an impact after draft day...I can name you..hell probably 25 college players over the years who've come into the NBA and aint dont shit.. So that arguement isnt really valid. Pure STARS are few and far between.

It'd be nice to watch the kids grow in front of our eyes before going to the NBA...I mean, who really heard of ...ANY of the kids who came out of highschool this past draft...prior to them being named as "HS players going to the NBA draft" you dont even know who they are untill they sign up to play pro ball. It'd be nice to know they got really great talent....watch them go to a good college, and see how they do in college, then when it comes time...they're smashing folks in the NBA..

David Stern is the best commish' around, so whatever he decides on, I'll support him.
