I've always figured the Dutch/Norwegian etymologies work best...

What's really interesting, is how words are o.k. to use at first, and then considered profane after a while, and then not so profane again...Like the word bitch...

I use the word "bitch" in a dual sense- to mean a female dog, and a female person who is mean, nasty, short-tempered, an arsehole, rude, and spiteful.

My sister actually called our dog a bitch, but with the 2nd meaning I described! My sister had to go to work (she was waitressing and being a kitchenhand down at the King Reef Hotel), and Ruby had done a poo right where she had to walk (it was like she did it on purpose), and my sister stepped in it with her good shoes on! So my sister shouted at Ruby- "You bitch!"

I dunno why but I think it's funny /:D" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt=":D" /> . It's okay, we love our dog. Now she's learnt to do it at the beach, or at the very back corner of the yard behind the shed. So it's all good.
