Hold Outs
With talk about so many players like TO, Javon Walker, Edge, and more holding out it brings up the question...Should players be allowed to hold out?
Is it too selfish of them to do that? Should they be content with the contract theysigned?
What do you think?
(note...I knew that Javon said he would report to camp and Edge wasn't going to hold out. No need to jump on me for that)

I am at a cross about this...
Overachieving player signs small, 400K contract for 5 years...Ends up being amoung the league leaders 3 years in a row...In his instance, sitting out makes sense...You play like the best, you should get paid like the best...That's what the owners have created by starting these huge contracts, so they may as well deal with it...
On the other hand...
You already getting 8 million a season Sir..? Go the fuck to camp...I think it is an insult to be among the leagues top paid players and miss camp over a pissy ass contract dispute...If you're making that much a season, and you're broke, or barely making it, what's a couple more million anyway..? Give me 8 million and I could live the rest of my life...

Damn straight! It bugs the hell out of me to see these athletes whine about making a measley 2 mil a year (much less those who whine about their 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8... mill a year). Jesus! where will it end!?!?

I agree about TO. It's all about leverage though. If a team will cave in and pay what you want, more power to you, but the Eagles won't do that so he's just wasting his time holding out. On top of that, Owens was already one of the best recievers before he signed his $49 million contract with Philly, I didn't hear him complaining then that $49 mil wasn't enough. True he had a great season last year, but was it really any better than any previous season he had?

But even if the team will cave in...is it right? You sign a contract saying that you'll play for them for this amount of time for this much money. Just because you have a great year gives you the right to say...hey...my contract, that I signed, isn't good enough? Kepp playing that well for your next contract. You already signed this one

TO can kiss my ass.....dude cheated to even get to Philly in the first place last year....saying shit about not knowing the free agent deadline...you fucking kiddin' me?!
So now, after getting to the team he wanted, he still is gonna hold out?! Get you're overhyped ass to camp!
I agree with certain cases, such at Tony Gonzales, best TE in the league, and is vastly underpaid, but you know what, he didnt even hold out!
Be a man, if you sign a contract, play for that contract, and renew it when its up.
You're doing nothing but hurting the team by holding out.

Eh....Football is the worst with the contracts, no guarneteed money, it's a bisuness that is not player friendly. Sometimes holding out is the only way to get anywhere. I wouldn't go with greedy, because it is definitely a greedy process whenever signing the contract comes around. Selfish is the better word, because the player is only thinking about himself. I can't hate on a guy for looking out for himself though.

There is gaurenteed money in the NFL. Some players are by incentive only but there is money guarenteed.
This is why I admire players such as Todd Helton. He plays for a horrible team but doesn't bitch about it and want to get out of there.
