What item or items would you not want to do without? And what item or items would you most like to see invented in your lifetime?

Invention I can't live without..? Broadband...I am miserable when I don't have high speed around me...For real...
What I would most like to see invented..? Shit, that's easy...Virtual reality...A way to do things without actually doing things...That's the one thing I'd like to see.....
Cool topic D dub...

The one invention I can't live without is the Internet. While I absolutely go nuts if/when I have to resort to dial-up (like when I first moved out here to the boonies) I can make do as long as I can access my email and the Web.
The one invention I'd like to see invented (and perfected to my satisfaction) is matter transport ala Star Trek. After the 1000th time picking my kids up from their mother and then taking them back again 3 days later (7 hour round trip), I'd love to be able to give them a kiss, pop them into the transporter and not have to worry about traffic. Plus my hour + commute each way every day would be eliminated.

I'm not sure, but I definitely believe that the USB portable flashstick/thumb drive/memory disk is one of the best electronic devices ever invented! It's so handy, so small, and fits alot of data, and is compatible with many old & new computers! I love it!
