It's not very often televized..so I don't get a chance to see it too often, nor am I exposed to it in all of its forms....but I do enjoy watching it when it comes on TV.

I've trained in both Jiu Jitsu and Tae Kwon Do. Didn't progress far in either of them, but enjoyed the discipline and the exercise. Of the two of them, I'd say I enjoyed and appreciated the versatility of Jiu Jitsu most.
I'd also love to hear about other's experiences and achievements.

I love watching people compete in martial arts. I've always been amazed at how it's the culmination of the skills required for so many other sports. Physical stregnth, competitiveness, concentration, self-discipline, the whole shabang. Takes a tough cookie to stick it out, that's for sure.
Does anyone want to give a brief overview of the different types? I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to this subject, but I'd love to learn more.

I dont' know much about martial arts but I've heard that it's great in conditioning and dicipline.
"If there were no eternal consciousness in a man, if at the bottom of everything there were only a wild ferment, a power that twisting in dark passions produced everything great or inconsequential; if an unfathomable insatiable emptiness lay hid beneath everything, what would life be but despair?"

Taekwondo where i became two times national champion in combat, also got an international champ on taeguk competitions.
And yes martial arts are awesome, i've never been in a fight since when i was 14 years old and i can tell that's because of them

I have trained under a professional fighter for 3 years? in both boxing and kickboxing...American, not Muy Thai, though I have exercised it's arts...There were no state wide sponsored events for us to compete in, but I feel I am pretty competent...The conditioning it takes to go a 3 minute round of boxing is unbelieveable...Nobody I ever took to train with me lasted a workout...It is rigorous and thorough...I hope to start back soon, before I am too old... /:D" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt=":D" />
I have also briefly studied other styles, and found them useless and in many ways inferior to boxing...I have seen martial arts events on television, when it comes to sparring, those guys suck...I would take Roy Jones Jr. any day...But I love the various movements and styles of the Asian arts, namely Hung Gar, and the animalistic syles and movents of Gung Fu...And the philosophy of Bruce Lee's Jeet Kun Do are awesome...
But I love Ju Jitsu...It is only other art I would seriously study, ground work (cause that's where most fights end up) is essentional...I have not studied it formally, but I am versed in wrestling and grappling as well...
I am out of fighting shape, but can still defend myself adequately...But, to be honest, I'd rather just reach for my man purse... /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
My favorite martial artists are Donnie Yen, Bruce Lee of course, Roy Jones Jr., Tito Ortiz, and Cassius (Momma named him Clay, I'ma call him Clay, LoL) Clay...

Tae Kwon Do- red belt ( but I never felt I got the proper training or merit the belt, so I left). Some training in Jiu Jitsu. Plenty of street fighting (hardly self-taught, since I got my ass "lurned" some in middle school). Last but by no means least, Chung Moo Doe, by far my most rigorous and demanding sessions. A "system" of "8 Martial arts in one", where I remained in a trial-basis for almost a year. Oh that's right!, almost forgot...they were a cult.
Dude, of course she's gonna dig it...your mom loves the cock
