The bottom line is this LG, in my eyes...Our government has had a less than spectacular record with minorities...And they are doing what they can to try and fix it...It is not right that you or anyone else has to deal with it...But it is certainly not right to not acknowledge it...
This may be a little off topic now, but i think A put it best...the gov't is trying maybe to make up for favoring caucasion ppl for so long...still, some of it has gone to far...it will be interesting to follow this topic tho in real time..

hey seeker,
you ain't stupid. and you don't sound so. you sound like you got more feelings about this, than you do data. nothing wrong with feelings, nothing at all. especially when, in this country, growing up, I met with a lot of prejudice, and some of it was pretty rare... but I do not know what is was like to be black in the 70's and 80's and 90's when everyone was still REAL sore bout the whole issue and some still are.
My mom says she will not kick my broither's black friend out of the house, and says it like she is proud of it. she knows she came a long way from when all but three of my friends could play in the yard or stay the night. Actually, *those* friends would play in the yard, and my mom wouldn't hurt them but she'd yell. she's come a long way, and she is kinda ashamed she wasn't already there... we actually thought it was kinda funny in the yard,.. but sad in the house. I grew up in the south... and saw racism up close. I was called racial names that don't even apply to me in the derogatory contexts because most of the kids never knew what to call me. Like when a kid at school would call me (THE N WORD) because he lacked the ability to find an insult more suitable for someone who is studying Hebrew and mediation... I know a black young man who was shot in the head and killed for going to prom with a white girl and the girl's father never went to trial for pulling the trigger, much less jail. He was a good friend of mine, and a damn fine athlete, who destroyed the stereotype of jocks, and had set up a full academic and football ride to college.. but i wasn't him. or his family. I offered them my condolences, but they advised I not attend his funeral. I respected that, but was upset.
and no history lesson about empires long past make that right... I ain't even saying that, and thank you for not thinking I did.
lots I don't know... like how to keep my ass out of trouble with the DMV.

Even another twist to the topic...What would we do..? I mean, we are all capable of world leaders, right..? /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
How do you make amends..? Not fair generation B has to suffer for Generation A's fuck ups, but not right for generation B to disregard said treatment of Generation A...
What's a good solution..?

That, my friend, is the crux of the problem. How does Gen B make up for the wrongs of Gen A? Is a simple apology enough? Probably not. But then you get into the situation you described where Gen B is paying for the sins of Gen A. And if that is indeed what you should do, how long do you do it?
