...and Neil Gaiman is gonna work on the screenplay? k, I'm listening.

I do have my doubts on Hollywood handling this project, they've fucked up Stephen King novels...hell, they fucked up Herbie!.

but I met Neil Gaiman, back when I got Good Omens signed. I was wearing a vintage three piece suit and derby, and carrying a sword-cane, which was my typical style of dress at the time as I was mostly in the company of my very refined teacher, and she encouraged me to dress up. He told me "OMG, you're my dark Angel,.. Azraphael."

I said "No, that is not my name  ", and I remember he said between verses of his reading from Stardust that if he had a dream project it would be making a movie of Beowulf that would actually capture the element the story had WHEN it was written.

My inscription says "Sorry about the apocalypse. Take Care." and he drew a human head with wings and a fiery tongue, and said "That, dear Angel, is your name."

He said he wanted to make Beowulf, and I said interrupted him then, and will say it now again, "next, do Gilgamesh." That statement got me an extra thirty minutes with him, all to myself to talk about America's need for mythology, which i have seen its impact in American Gods.

I suspect there is a character in that book based, in part on me.

anyways, beyond my pride an adventure...

We had a great chat, at [The Other] Change of Hobbit Bookstore in Berkeley, where I also met Clive Barker years before. That book store closed, I heard. Sad.

veritas,
raum

I hope they don't screw around with the story too much. Knowing Hollywood, it'll probably have car chases and explosions to "liven it up".

ok, more news:

Grendel will be played by Crispin Glover - Danny's creepy white son.

perfect casting.

Beowulf will be played by Ray Winstone - from Sexy Beast (movie about me)

The movie will be motion cast animation , like Polar Express. Never saw it, but I would prefer it were live action, just on principle.

but a great cast may pull it off, nonetheless.

Gaiman is a great storyteller, I trust he can add rather than dilute the story for the 2 Fast 2 Furious crowd. I'm personally waiting on Mirrormask, which doesn't seem to be bringing any new theme on the table, but it does put the Sandman collaboration of Gaiman and Dave McKean on visuals, I hope it doesn't end up as just stylish trash.

Speaking of stylish trash...why not live action?, if you got Crispin Glover, isn't that animated enough?.

Well....over a full year later..... I must have been bullshitting when I posted originally...but I just read some parts of this for my english class...and I thought it was the shit...very well written, the language was good, but never to the point where I was like "the fuck is going on" and I would have to read passages over again to understand them.....

But the excerps were short....but I am interested in reading the whole thing....I assume people here would reccommend it?
