I recently saw the Exorcism of Emily Rose, and it got me thinking..
What is really taking place in the Spiritual Realms? Is there constant battling going on? If so, how does it relate to us? Is it something we can affect?

I think the universe as a whole fights to regain any loss of balance...I'm not sure what kinds of spiritual tones that involves, other than that energy itself is as probably as close to spirit as we are going to get...I look at it, if it makes sense, that very minute someone dies, someone else is concieved...The minute someone gains sight, someone else looses it...And so, the battle, and the stuggle is the maintaining of that balance, not by either side, but the whole...IE, not the Jedi or the Sith, but the force itself...

The conflict in this world feeds and is fed upon by the conflict in *some* Spiritual Realms. Others are completely unaware of our existence, and outright refuse to believe WE exist. The physical shape of a spiritual weapon is not crucial. If a person truly can focus on the sacrament, for example, as the protection of Divine providence, it can be a powerful shield, or an effective medicine. Calling a being means you accept responsibility for sending it back, or the repercussions of not being able to send it back. But even without physical danger, there is a great danger for the Exorcist, in that the very act of an Exorcism is an admittance that they acknowledge that the human spirit can and IS SOMETIMES defeated by outside beings and intelligences. i.e. our God given providence is not an absolute, from our mortal perspective. Life will never be the same again, regardless of the outcome. Spirits will come in droves. Every day will be a battlefield. Actually, every day IS, the Exorcist just has intimate knowledge of the stakes and the tactics employed. And now this new person may just assume the worst of every being which has no earthly form.
It is for this reason all training takes place in a prescribed area, as will all all actual operations.
The area (most often a proportioned off area designated by a geometric perimeter, a stone, or a flame) used is insulated against escape and *also* protecting the being or intelligence from the effects of being exposed to the full energies of our *world.* This was one of the the purposes of the Tabernacle. In fact that are many creatures which are benign or even genuinely friendly, but the exposure of our world is harmful or painful enough to these particular beings and intelligences to drive them mad or turn them hostile or seriously injure them- wherby you can expect retaliation. The physical shape of a spiritual weapon is not crucial. If a person truly can focus on the sacrament, for example, as the protection of Divine providence, it can be a powerful shield, or an effective medicine. Calling a being means you accept responsibility for sending it back, or the repercussions of not being able to send it back. In GENERAL, if you can not send something back (exactly from *where* it came from), you can not control it. The way this is most safely learned is with a mentor, who calls it forward, and lets you attempt to send it back, until you succeeed. It is absolutely vital that they let you have control of the situation. If you If not, it can try to occupy you or harm you is some other way.

I would hesitate to speak in such generalities... my own experiences caused me to seek formal training, and only from those who demonstrated a proficiency in such things that I was specifically *instructed* (through my "prayers") to train with.
My training is congruent with my experiences, in most cases. There are some differences, but most of those are changes that reflect the sign of the times, so to speak.
