Sounds good....I'll drop you my cell # in a PM and we'll get together!

Actually, I work for a Civil/Survey firm but have moved into running our HD Scanning department. In essence, I create really kick ass 3D As-Builts of entire facilities to aid in design and construction. I was contracted by a company named "AREVA" to do some scanning work for them on the Island, and for some future stuff.......really a great opportunity for us:

Here's an example of the raw data I collect:

...and here's an example of a final product we produce:

Now that I've bored the shit out of you.....We'll definately hook up to celebrate the B-Day!

The image your looking at is created by an "HDS3000" laser scanner that collects roughly 1600 points (x, y and z) per second with an overall positional accuracy of +/- 6mm. The technology it uses is called "Time of Flight" laser which in essence means a beam of light exits the instrument, travels to the first object it "hits" and returns to the machine. It then calculates the time it took to "hit" something and the angle of which it exited and creates a point that occupies that position in space relative to it's own location.

Jesus, I hope that makes sense.....

Here's some info on the machine we use:
