Has anyone heard of this? My hubby told me about it and I thought I would check it out. AWESOME! Google Earth shows you a satellite view of everything. We saw our car out in front of our house! It's freaky!
Check it out!

I've got the browser and it IS awesome. I even checked out Area 51. My house is real blurry, but my brother's house is very clear. You can see his old truck in front of the house. The site is basically a compilation of satelite and recon airplane photos from all over the world. Type in an address or coordinates and it'll zoom you right there.

NASA (as in the space program) World Wind is another such project. The difference being this one is open source and has been around longer I believe. The NASA project does have some interesting plugins for weather tracking and other environment monitoring features that make it an interesting (if you asre into that kind of thing)way to burn through some time.

Also, World Wind is open source, so you can develop your own applications around it..!

World Wind is really great. Google Earth has some better resolution in many places, but World Wind has every single village in the world marked. It's very impressive.

They only have better resolutions and sat images, simply because Google can afford to buy em of the satellite owners.. If NASA gets around to it, I'll probably use that instead..
