Creating a System DVD

Post by AYHJA »

I think that most of us are Windows users, with the exception of who.am.i...Who is using a build of Linux I believe...At any rate, many Windows users should be accepting of a few things...The biggst one..?

You will need to format your system every few months...

At least twice a year...Over your time, your system will naturally pick up little bits of shit, and they cause your PC to slow down and things like that...So, if you don't have virus, reformatting can be a god thing...

Now, this would be cool, except backup up data, installing programs and all that can be a bitch...So, I am going to take it upon myself to try and create a self booting, self installing Windows XP Professional SP2 CD that includes patches, hotfixes, my programs, etc...

Imagine putting the CD in the drive, heading over to your buddies house to watch the games on Saturday, and your PC be formatted and freshly installed when you get back...And in case of an emergency, like a lapse in your virus protection, you won't shit half as many bricks...It would simply be a matter of backing up any new files (A DVD burner is $50 bucks, no excuses) and popping in your very own system CD...

I'll be more than happy to share my experience, take some notes, etc for those that may want to do such a thing...There are plenty of tutorials, but many of them may be a little more advanced than others would allow...So, if peeps wanna go along, as I won't be doing this all at once I'm sure, feel free to post...Otherwise, let this shit sink to the bottom of the forums never to be heard from again... /:D" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt=":D" />

Wow...that seems like a big project. I'd like to hear about it when you're done.
"If there were no eternal consciousness in a man, if at the bottom of everything there were only a wild ferment, a power that twisting in dark passions produced everything great or inconsequential; if an unfathomable insatiable emptiness lay hid beneath everything, what would life be but despair?"

Soren Kierkegaard

Sounds like a damn good idea.. sadly, installing programs won't be possible during installation.. unless you can convince the Windows Team @ Microsoft to rewrite the Installation app before Vista comes out..

Other than that.. I'll buy a copy of your DVD! /:D" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt=":D" />

Well, from what I am reading, you can create scripts to run once the OS is installed...Of course, this is just the surface, at this point I'm not very sure of shit...But there are some pure geeks...And I mean PURE geeks, that have nothing better to do than master shit like this...

As said though, I'll keep cats posted...And who. you just gave me a WONDERFUL fucking idea...!!
