NBA Dress Code

Here is a link for the NBA Dress Code. Personally, I think it's a great thing to have. Judge for yourself.

I voted yes, but at the same time, a grown man should be able to dress how he wants...

No, a grown man who makes 50 million dollars a year shouldn't have to be asked twice to look respectable while representing the organization that pays him. Period.

I totally agree with you LG. Almost every other business has a strict dress code..why not the NBA?

Would you want another man telling you that you look respectable, as in, the way you currently dress is shit, and not up to standards with me and my colleagues..? Furthermore...The clothes that they wear to work consist of a jazzy looking wife beater, and shorts...So, you go to work dressed down, and when you're not working, dress up...Right then...

What does how much $ somebody makes have to do with how they wish to be percieved..? How about...Your school enacts a dress code, and you have to wear shorts and those knee high white nylon socks cause the school board decides that "kids outta dress like kids"...You'd be ready to fucking leave the school never to return...

MEANWHILE

The NFL fought a coach that wanted to wear a suit on the sidelines...Told his ass he better wear them jackets and turtlenecks w/them logos on it, or else...

You guys don't see nothing fucked up with that..?

I voted yes, but there are two things I don't like: 1) no necklaces and pendants, and 2) no sunglasses.

Now, you're probably laughing at the no sunglasses, but I used to wear mine ALL THE TIME, before they broke of course. lol And no necklaces? That would be the one thing I would fight. I don't see anything wrong with having a chain or pendant.

It's no sunglasses inside. I don't think sunglasses should be worn inside. They were meant for the outside. Some necklaces and things are alright under this but they don't want the big gangsta chains hanging off of the players. Personally, I think this is great for the sport?

A, I think it is messed up about the NFL coach. I guess different comishes like different things. Which coach was that anyway?

I have to wear an ugly ass maroon shirt and an apron that looks like a skirt everyday to work...do I like it? Fuck no....do I wear it because I'm told to, and because it's part of the job...yes.

If the NBA says "you better wear suits" Stop crying and put on a goddamn suit.

No where else besides professional sports do you get paid that much money for playing a game. Pro altheletes are some of the luckiest people in the world because they get to play the game they love day in and day out and get paid more than the average joe doing the average shitty job......it is ridiculous if they complain about it. Shiiiit...most people already wear suits coming into the arena anyway...

QUOTE(trashtalkr)It's no sunglasses inside. I don't think sunglasses should be worn inside. They were meant for the outside.

If we all thought like that...There would be no holes in jeans, no caps backwards, and blind people would be embarrased as shit...So, nope to this, you can express yourself any way you see fit, and if you want to rock shades indoors, so be it...

QUOTE(trashtalkr)Some necklaces and things are alright under this but they don't want the big gangsta chains hanging off of the players.

Them big \"gangsta\" chains...Shit man, I hope you can see the flaw in that logic, but probably not...That is EXACTLY why I don't like this rule and like it...Do you think what's \"gangsta\" to you is \"gangsta\" to the next man..? If where you from, those big chains have a meaning, you'd be o.k. with loosing a bit of your personality..?

Shit man, I remember one time I had on a $60 Italian blend Sweater, and couldn't get in a funky ass strip club because it was sleeveless...I had on linen pants and dress shoes, and the strippers were screaming for Senhor to come it...Even though I looked nice, you think I got in that fucking club..? NOPE...Meanwhile, a dude with a fucking Hanes T-Shirt and some baggy ass jeans rolled right in...

Most people lack proper judgement...The peeps deciding what these cats is wearing was grown and fucking before these dudes were even born...If it was the players assc. making the rule, that's one thing...But...You think David Stern is capable of deciding a dress code for a 23 year old grown man..?

QUOTE(trashtalkr)A, I think it is messed up about the NFL coach. I guess different comishes like different things. Which coach was that anyway?

The guy from the 49'ers...And get this M8, he wanted to wear the suit because his FATHER was an NFL coach, and he wore suits on the sideline when he coached...He wanted to honor his father...Think about all the legends that coached the NFL game...Lombardi, Papa Bear Hallas, they always had on suits...Modern day sideline spiffy coaches..? Nope, put that fucking starter cap one, and get over there...

Sounds like pseudo slavery to me, but hey...

If that job was your only viable option, hmm, I could see that...

QUOTE(Lost Ghost)If the NBA says \"you better wear suits\" Stop crying and put on a goddamn suit.

It's not that simple...The older, and more established you get, the more that will make sense...What you have to realize is that the NBA and their big wigs NEED them Kobe Bryants, and them Michael Jordans...David Stern can probably not make 2 three pointers in a row to save his life...

Being away from your friends and family for extended periods of time...No longer being anonymous...The bumps, bruises, disappointments...The hard word, dedication...Much money is made...But if you're telling me you could find a way to put a price on not seeing your son born, or being at a bed side when a family member dies, then you are a better man than me...I can assure you, it is much more than a game...I am an average joe, and it is not so bad...
