I don't mind the dress code because I wear business casual to work every day. For some events I can dress however I want but BC iscomfortable to me. The players have to realize that although young impressonable kids might be watching their games corporate america (any race, color, creed, gender, etc....) is signing their checks. If the NBA lost their ad money they'd be lower than the NHL. You can't get much lower than that (and I love hockey!).

lmao...what a cheap shot at the NHL
"If there were no eternal consciousness in a man, if at the bottom of everything there were only a wild ferment, a power that twisting in dark passions produced everything great or inconsequential; if an unfathomable insatiable emptiness lay hid beneath everything, what would life be but despair?"

How so? The NHL has virtually no market, their ratings are horrible. Since the entrance of Lebron James, who brought many fans to their television sets...PPG for teams went up an average of 6.3 last year, the Suns is the new direction, run and gun fun. The NBA is more exciting than ever.....advertising doesn't turn on televisions...nor change channels....fans will watch the games they want regardless of how the players dress.

You wont need any commericals to make every TV in America watching that Heat vs Spurs game......

Only thing near Hockey is Soccer..and thats in America, but considering Soccer is the most popular worldwide sport...that leaves hockey alone at the bottom of the sports barrel.

What an EXCELLENT point LG, and that's EXACTLY why I am weary of why this rule even came into effect in the first place...

It's not about fans watching...it's about the perception the players who are braiding hair while walking in on a cell phone in a doo-rag and a throwback are giving the casual fan about the NBA.

The NBA afterall, is a business....basketball is played, but in reality, although players and fans alike prefer to think differently, it is only a small part of the business that is the National Basketball Association.

If I'm David Stern, although I dont think he should be worrying at all, considering he's everyones favorite commish' and hasn't done anything wrong..ever......I want my business looking a little bit more like a business...and not a playground. There is street ball...with headbands and doo-rags and throwbacks....and then there is the professional level...I don't think its too much to ask some grown men to dress professionally, when they play on the professional level. Plus....if your boss asks you to do something.....do it! These primmadonnas of the NBA are given everything as is.....shiit they even get coaches fired nowdays.......just put on a suit to game day and look respectable for your organization.

"look respectable"

Will always be a matter of opinion, and thus my problem with the rule...
