Look both ways

Post by deepdiver32073 »

Those of you who are parents have probably told your kids this a hundred times, I know I have. Those of you not yet parents have, I'm sure been told this BY your parents. The point is, if you don't this is what happens.

My son was walking home after school Thursday when he tried to cross the road without looking. He was with a bunch of friends and was probably distracted, but the point is, he didn't look. Fortunately, the car was a low-slung Camaro and not going fast, so all he got was a broken leg, broken arm, dislocated shoulder, broken collar bone, and broken bones around his eye socket. He just got out of ICU yesterday and will be in a wheelchair for 8 - 10 weeks with PT lasting well beyond that.

So everyone... LOOK BOTH WAYS!!!

Thanks Fap. It's been a tough weekend just seeing him lie there in Intensive Care with tubes and shit running in and out of him. He is and always has been my "baby boy", and we nearly lost him when he was a week old from a systemic staph infection, so I tend to be very protective of my kids. This was something I couldn't protect him from. If I could have been there to push him out of the way and take the car myself, I would have (but I'd be soaking up that morphine like nobody's business). Driving up to South Carolina (300 miles), I kept wondering who I was going to bust up for hurting my son, but once I got the full story, the person who "deserved" busting up was already busted up. DAMN! I wanted to blame someone else SO BAD for my son's injuries, but I couldn't. The boy that hit him came up to the ICU on Saturday with his parents and was near tears for what happened. We told him it wasn't his fault, that no one blamed him for what happened.

Thanks man. I'll be heading back up there this weekend. The hardest thing is having to be so far away from him right now. But I'm getting daily reports from my ex and my daughter, so that helps. Hopefully he'll be out of the hospital by the time I go up.

was the driver in anyway responsible for this tragic accident?
seems a large group of young boys should be pretty visible and the driver should have been able to stop if he was paying attention.

glad things are on the upswing
godspeed

No, the other driver was going under the speed limit when my son just flat out stepped in front of him. All the witnesses stated that he was in no way at fault. Unfortunately. I want someone to blame, but there's just no one to blame except for my son's lapse of attention. Trust me, I want to blame someone else, but all evidence points to my son just not paying attention.

I'm sorry man...must be real tough on you. I wish him the speediest recovery and you peace during this whole situation

Thanks everyone. That's one of the reasons I posted this; I need all the support/prayers/positive energy y'all have to give. I spend so much time in here, I feel like I know most of you, so I didn't hesitate. Of course the other reason is that I don't want anyone else to go through what my son is going through, so if you're out walking... LOOK BOTH FUCKING WAYS!!!
