I'll be traveling back up there this weekend to check on his progress. I get daily phone calls but that's not the same as being there. I'll keep everyone posted.

Being a father I am highly protective of my daughter. If it were me I would have beat the crap out of that Camaro driver. I know kids must look both ways but as a driver you must pay attention to the road.
I hope your kid does well. Best wishes from one father to another.

Thanks jdog. That was my intention and inclination driving up there last Friday, to locate and beat the shit out of whoever did this to my son. But as soon as I got there and got the full story, there was no retribution to hand out. My son stepped out in front of him with no time at all for him to react. There were a dozen witnesses who all said the same thing, and most of them were my son's friends who could be expected to stretch things a bit in his favor.

He will be fine, DD. Feel it, both you and your kid, and so it will be. I'm sure we all wish this lesson didn't have to be so well learned, but it might actually help the driver, with his "bitchin" Camaro realize that his little toy requires a bit more skill and responsibility as well. "Look both ways" I know, whatever...
Stay positive and just keep as much contact as you can with him. He WILL be fine.

I saw this late, as i never know which threads in this section i can see when i am at work, and that's they only place I can get online right now.
My prayers are with you and your son. I was run over when i was in high school by a jacked-up 1984 toyota pickup truck,.. not fun. Not nearly as bad as your son...
peace and health, to you and yours.

Just got back from a long weekend yesterday. My son is back home recovering and doing great. He's manuvering quite well in his wheelchair and is being pretty faithful to his PT tasks. He knows he's an extremely lucky young man. Hopefully, this will get him to pay more attention to what he's doing in all areas of his life and not just crossing the street. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers, they are much needed and appreciated.
