lmao...I can't believe this. Yes Chicago is number 1 in their division, but the division is a piece of shit this year! I cannot believe this is a discussing. Here are some sats for you
The Bears are 15th out of 16 teams in the NFC in YPG with 264.1 yds (Ranked 28th in the NFL). Even the Packers are ahead of that (9th in NFC and 16th in NFL with 326ypg)
The Bears do have a good defense (ranked 1st in NFC with 253.7 aypg), but that won't lead them to a Super Bowl
I don't care what you say....YOU NEED OFFENSE TO WIN

hmmm.....Raven's had a pretty good offense when they won...so did the Bears in 85'....and the Patriots all of these years......Who you been talking to son? DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS. It's a even a popular cliche...and you're gonna tell me it doesn't matter?
Offense sells tickets....it brings media..... defense wins the big games.
Payton can break the record and throw 49 touchdowns....but its those 4 interceptions he threw against the Pat's D that always make them lose.....
Come on now...you just playin' stupid on me.

I don't think you can put Culpepper in Manning's class. Duante has talent and he's had some great seasons but Manning brings it every year. Ok so his numbers are a bit down this year, but (1) it's hard to go up from 49 and (2) teams are dropping defenders into pass coverage so it makes sense for him to hand off to Edge. Lemme put it this way: if you were building a franchise, which guy would you want at QB?
As for the Colts playing the Steelers: wow, what a match-up, a heavy-weight fight. I don't think it is a done deal provided that Big Ben is healthy - Maddox is terrible. It might be a bit like USC v Notre Dame - the Steelers come out pounding the ball and keeping Manning and co off the field. And when Peyton is on the field, Pitt has a pretty good defense - I like the safeties a lot.

Oh one more thing - I hope the Colts win out. If only to stick it to the 72 Dolphins. I'm sick of hearing about them hating on every undefeated team every year.

Peyton brings it every year? Here we go again..another casual fan popping off at the mouth because of what the people on T.V. say.
Kerry Collins has more yards than him this year.....as well as brady, palmer, McNabb and Farve at least...I only looked at the top 5 and didn't see him there.
Most of those guys are on bad teams this year scoring like no points...and yet they have more yards then Peyton's Colts, the team that drops like 50 on everyone.

Yeah, but LG, what you seem to keep missing out on, is the fact that the Colts aren't LOSING every game because of him...IE, he is playing within the system...You keep saying that, like you're insisting that he can't put up gaudy numbers...I mean, obviously, him putting up big numbers isn't going to win him games, this time last year he was tearing dudes asses up statistically, but they weren't winning as many games...
To me, this is the equivalent of a Michael Jordan settling for 25 points a game and his team winning, than him averaging 33, and his team loosing...
And, as I already pointed out, his numbers are low, but in a relative sense and a statistical one for that matter, he is still one of the top 5 QB's in the league....
I don't see your point in bashing him, really...Or even insisting that he isn't the reason for their success...

LG: here are Peyton's numbers for this year: 2169y 69.9pct 17td 6int 104.6rtg
Sure you're right that Kerry Collins has more yards, but (leaving win loss record out) he also has an inferior completion percentage, fewer TDs and a lower rating. The only reason why we're talking about this being a down year is because last year was other-worldly. Football is a team game, and Peyton has a better team now. Good line, good WR, E James (more than 1000 yards from scrimmage), and also, we're forgetting, a much improved defence - fewer shootouts, lower stats, fewer happy fantasy football players.
I think the MJ analogy is a pretty good one. Mike used to drop 30 plus PPG on guys but every year his team would get shut out in the playoffs by the Pistons. It wasn't until he got a team (Pippen, Grant and a bunch of roleplayers) that he took that next step. Of course if the Bulls needed the last shot, you knew the man was going to be there to take it. Simiarly, if it turns out that the Colts need Manning to win a close one at the end, they're in pretty good hands.
