Looking forward to seeing this. My kids got me hooked on HP when the first movie came out. Now I'm all caught up on the books and looking forward to this movie as much (or more) than they are.

Disapointed....
Although I can't expect them to have everything from a 800 page book in a 2 and a half hour movie.....they nearly ruined the film.
I'd say roughly 600 pages were left out.....they hit the big events...quite well for the most part....but they not only left a lot of characters and aspects that added great enjoyment and flare to the book...but they even changed the big events.
**spoilers**
Neville really isn't the one who gives Harry the Gillyweed...which made that whole part awkward.
The whole female school was done differently...they were supposed to be magically beautiful and put innate love charms on all the guys
In the first half hour....they go through about 250 pages....thats why its so choppy...the quidittch world cup is never actually played....although i LOVED the way it looked....there is no accusations about the dark mark which was a huge part...
the maze....... oh boy, this is where the dissapointment grows to a level of dislike for the movie....it was COMPLETELY different in the book......
there were no classroom scenes.....dumbledoor was portrayed horribly......blast-ended skwerts were completely left out.
**end spoilers**
I'm most upset for people who saw thsi movie without reading the book, because you really miss TONS of the best parts.
Also, you'd think that for a movie based on a book that probably 85% of the people who watches it will have read..they would have tried to include a little bit more.
This probably seems ridiculous, because in reality they did only have a 2.5 hour movie to fit it into....but common guys......
the 5th book was my favorite so far...and I'm already nervous because of how bad this one did of setting up the events for the 5th one...

i dismissed the neville issue. it soldified his character a bit, and he is entertaining.
I did regret not enough Snape, or classroom in general. hadn't read the book in years.. but how could they do it all?
The world cup was well done i thought... quickly divorced tiself from the idea Voldemort poses no threat.
the magick girl school was hawt! the garden was not, but it got the point across.
I also found out the first night we got to see the movie with footage that makes it 30 minutes longer, and will only be available om the DVD.
but one of the best elements is how they try to get as many of the kids back for each movie, which gives hogwart's continuity..

Oh....well maybe with 30 extra minutes you had a lot of the stuff that I didnt get to see.....30 minutes would have been about right.
I too wish they had more Snape....although he makes my blood boil in the books...I think he is sooooo perfectly casted and portrayed in the films.
