Euthanasia

Gaius Cassius, also known as Longinus the Spearman, was the man who gave Jesus Christ a noble death during the Crucifiction, by piercing the right side of his body between the 4th and 5th rib with his spear.

Effectively, Longinus "put him out of his misery".

But that can also be interpreted as an act of euthanasia.

If such an act of nobility occured to the Almighty, then why is euthanasia frowned upon throughout the world in heated debates and in the media?

Personally, I am so afraid of death, that it has made me overcome thoughts of suicide...... I am too scared to endure the pain to die, and I am too scared to leave the life I am currently in, regardless of whatever future I may have in another dimension or place (eg. reincarnation, heaven). So I want to live as much as I can, for as long as I can. But I don't want to lead a life of uselessness, as a vegetable, or constant suffering enduring pain. No life is better than a horrible life......

Do you believe people should live as long as physically possible?

Do you believe people are better off dead than suffering?

A bit off topic, but I'm hoping that you will humor me Pete...

Why are you afraid of anything, let alone something that will happen to everyone sooner or later..? I'm curious is all...I've never been afraid of many things...This will be good for me to have you explain this to me...

Thank you for your question. In time I will give you an answer, but when that time will come I do not know, but it will come. Fear of Death is something in my inner conscience that I cannot just immediately pull out and summarise. I know I have been more open in this online forum than nearly any other internet communications I have participated in, but still this is something I cannot just "post" about in a cyber atmosphere, at least not right now....

But again, thank you for your question.

suicide is inconsequential. Your fears and your pain can see behind the veil of death. Deal with them head-on, with the weapons you were given, or you may be consumed by them. And you wouldn't like to exist as what is left of those who are hollowed out by pain and fear...

I don't have a fear of death, but I have a pronounced aversion to pain. Given the option of living the rest of my life in constant, excruciating pain, or just ending it all.... hand me that bottle of pills.

if all you have left is pain that dehumanizes you... you aren't alive anymore anyways.

My point exactly. I've counseled people in such situations who begged for the release that modern society and medicine won't allow them. What can you say to someone who has nothing to live for but the sweet release that death offers them?

um, if they phrase it like that,.. I'd tell them t quit watching lifetime network features.

(had to be said - "death's sweet release" sounds like something you'd request from a DJ, not euthanatos "the good death".)
