0 isn't the opposite of infinity tho...In my opinion, they are equal...
As in, if 0 is the opposite of infinity, what's the opposite of -1..?

The opposite of -1 would be 1. But I don't believe that 0 is the opposite of infinity. 0 is actually a number and infinity isn't.

Hmm..Maybe I am thinking too hard...
Logically, lets talk...
tt...If both 1 and -1 are numbers...Integers...And are opposite of one another...Cool...That means the opposite of -2 is 2, -3 and 3, and so forth...
And you said zero is a number, right, so...
What's the opposite of 0..?

I think the opposite of 0 would be 0. The opposite of +0 would be -0 but since 0 is neither postive or negative, it would be it's own opposite

@ tt
But how can the opposite of 0 be 0..? That's not a logical statement, and not something that I feel you'll find true in any other instance...What one thing can you think of that is the opposite of itself..?
Black and white are opposites, for example...Gonna have to explain what you mean, cause right now, that don't make no sense...
@ bd55
Thanks for that random bit of information, and not that it has anything to do with the question I asked, what are your reasons for thinking that..?

Zero can't have an opposite, I don't think so.
TT your logic makes sense with the example of numbers you gave, as in -3 and 3 for example. I agree with that, the opposite of anything positive would be it's negative.
But '0' can't have an opposite, we don't consider it to be a positive or a negative number.
Because remember "The sum of any number and its opposite is 0.", so...

I'd like to know why 0 isn't the opposite of infinity..
With what's been said so far, 0 isn't a number...Infinity isn't a number...
Zero is neither a positive or negative number, as is the same for infinity...
Infinity cannot be counted, and neither can 0...
But agreed, they are not the same thing...I say they are opposite sides of the same coin, and both of you disagree...But I am not sure why...Please explain...

QUOTE(AYHJA)With what's been said so far, 0 isn't a number...Infinity isn't a number...
Definition of a number: the property possessed by a sum or total or individuals
As I said previously, summing up a number and it's opposite gives 0. Adding a NUMBER and another NUMBER gives a NUMBER. So 0 is definitely a number.
Hmm, about saying 0 and infinity being opposites, I don't know, but I'm really doubting that's true, because...
Infinity could basically be defined as "a limitless quantity", meanwhile 0 can be basically defined as like "nothing".
My reason for saying they can't be opposites is because in whatever context you are using "infinity", it ALWAYS means "a quantity that's limitless", but 0 in a few contexts can actually signify something.
For example: 0†™¢¢¬…¡¢‚¬Å¡‚°C signifies the 'freezing point' of water. Calling somebody '0' could also mean he/she is "worthless" (informal expression).
So, I don't think 0 and infinity are opposites, I really doubt that.
Haha this is all weird, lol why are we talking about this!?! Haha :geek

Because for some reason, everyone responding to this post except raum, figured for some fucking reason I was talking about race...Even tho, I specifically said that it wasnt about race...
It's about whether or not God is the sum of all things, or the abscense of all things...Which I guess is how we got on numbers...Which, by the way, is as appropriate a context to discuss my question as any...So, lets continue...
By the way, it was not me that called 0 a number, that was tt...I said it was an integer, which is more or less an entity, and not a number...But I am now completely perplexed...
Infinity could basically be defined as "a limitless quantity", meanwhile 0 can be basically defined as like "nothing".
How is that not an opposite..?
Your example goes on to talk about assinging variables...But those are not amounts, those are points...You could relatively assign those points to any known finite number, define it, and let that be the case..IE, the 0 is not universal in that instance, so its not a value...In my world, 32†™¢¢¬…¡¢‚¬Å¡‚° is the point at wich water freezes...0†™¢¢¬…¡¢‚¬Å¡‚° means I need to get the hell outta the deep freezer...
