The Nuggets are said to be making a strong push for free agent swingman Bonzi Wells
Although Wells is an unrestricted free agent, Denver might need a sign-and-trade to get him. Houston, Miami and Minnesota are also believed to have interest in Wells, and if he signs with the Nuggets, J.R. Smith's status as a great sleeper pick will take a big hit.

Baron Davis says his mind and body are ready to perform at a very high level this season
"My focus and where I'm headed is where I need to be at this point," Davis said. "I don't think I have to prove anything to nobody except myself. Last year I was out to prove to everybody I was back. This season, I don't care about that." Last August we posted a blurb about Davis undergoing a grueling workout schedule last year in an effort to come into the season healthy, but he tweaked a hamstring on Nov. 3 and was in and out of the lineup all season. In other words, I don't trust him.

GM Bryan Colangelo and the Raptors are trying to sign point guard T.J. Ford to a long term deal before Oct. 31, or he is likely to become a restricted free agent
The Raptors gave up promising rookie Charlie Villnueva for Ford, so they'd hate to see him leave so soon. If healthy, he should be a top fantasy point guard this season.

Add the Miami Heat to the list of teams courting free agent Bonzi Wells
The thought is that Pat Riley and Shaq will keep Bonzi's attitude in check, and there's no doubt he has game-changing talent. Stay tuned.

Ex-NBA star Shawn Kemp is scheduled to tryout for the Bulls this week
I'd be shocked if Kemp landed with the Bulls, or any other NBA team for that matter. It's been three years since he played competitively and he has a stint in rehabilitation for cocaine abuse, two arrests for marijuana possession and weight problems working against him. Oh, and the fact he's 36 years old.

It sounds like Brandon Roy is going to play some point guard and shooting guard this year, as well as small forward, but may not be a starter
Coach Nate McMillan said he will look to use Roy at point guard this season, primarily because the position is dangerously thin in both experience and health. Jarrett Jack, in his second season, will be the starter, but McMillan is unsure of how ready rookie Sergio Rodriguez and newly acquired Dan Dickau, who is coming off a major Achilles' heel injury, are going to be. Even if he's not starting, Roy is still my favorite to win Rookie of the Year.

Free agent Bonzi Wells was in Houston on Monday discussing a potential contract with the Rockets
If the Rockets can sign him, a starting lineup of Rafer Alston, Bonzi, Tracy McGrady, Shane Battier and Yao Ming looks pretty good to me.
Bonzi Wells' meeting with the Rockets went well, but he's also scheduled to meet with the Bobcats, who can offer him more money
It's rare to see a free agent not sign for the most money he can get, but the Rockets have a much better chance of winning than the Cats do. However, he could get $8-9 million from Charlotte, while the Rockets could probably offer no more than $5 million. Stay tuned.

Jason Terry will move to shooting guard for the Mavs this season, with Anthony Johnson and Devin Harris fighting it out for the starting point guard job
Harris has been shooting about 600 jumpers a day trying to develop an outside shot. He's our favorite to win the starting point guard job in Dallas, but Johnson will give him a run for his money. The two could end up splitting time this year, but I think Harris should be drafted before Johnson in fantasy leagues.
