QUOTE(œbermensch @ Jan 31 2007, 03:56 PM) But also, like raum said, if she is charged w/a crime is a suit still plausible..? I mean, if someone kills someone, can you sue them on top of them going to jail or being punished..?
Yes, a civil suit is separate from a criminal one. That is my understanding, but I may be wrong. But, again, it doesn't matter if the suit gets Brandy to settle with the family.

BRANDY HIRES NEW REP FOLLOWING CAR CRASH:
Allan Mayer comes in to handle crisis; Courtney Barnes shifted to ˜entertainment publicist.

Brandy™s camp has made a few changes following news of her car crash and subsequent $50 million wrongful death lawsuit filed against her on Tuesday.

Courtney Barnes, who has been serving as the singer™s publicist, told EUR Wednesday: œAllan Mayer has been retained as Brandy's crisis management specialist while I remain on the team as her entertainment publicist.

Mayer, a publicist who has built a reputation on executing successful damage control for clients in high profile scandals, will represent the singer as she faces the $50 million civil suit brought by the parents of Awatef Aboudihaj, who died in a four-car crash that was triggered by the entertainer, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP is also urging the District Attorney to charge Brandy with a single count of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter for her role in the Dec. 31 accident.

Mayer, of the P.R. company 42 West, was also retained recently by œGrey™s Anatomy star Isaiah Washington to help deal with the backlash stemming from his use of a gay slur. The scandal-diffusing expert has also been hired to help repair the images of R. Kelly and Tommy Lee.

Meanwhile, TMZ.com dug up a copy of the civil lawsuit against Brandy. View the papers
