That's mostly what I'm thinking st4...I kinda just want to do it just to see what will happen...I mean, it would be great if I could do it, but campus WiFi is still protected, so I would have to call everyday and get the password to get on the network and or use a login...So its not like it will be anything super dependable, but it would be fun to try I think...

last year I went to my son's scout camp - the connection there was weak...

I might have to go this year and turn this in to a 'scout project' .... and see if I can boos the signal out in the woods....

I'm pretty optimistic because like I said, I have an internal antenna now, there are 5 houses within 100 feet of me, and I easily pick up 20-30 signals from my neighborhood...Grabbing a signal from that far away is iffy sure, but I definitely think it's possible...Campus WiFi is broadcast from a tower I think, as its available from every spot on campus...I'm sure I can't grab it w/a cantenna, but I but that Satellite mod could...

Wireless air card..?
Wireless air cards operate on cellular networks. You could probably use that and set up a VPN back to your end point. Would have connectivity issues but UDP should work well over that.

I suppose something like this would work if you could warrant the cost. You'd have to have exact point to point and anything that gets in between that will mess up the signal. It would have to be permanently mounted and the signal strength is usually boosted.
