From my experience up to this point, the biggest indicator is just what everyone has been saying....they want to be around you. But like you said, to me that doesn't really translate directly to they like me, like me....just that I'm fun to be around...so at what point it goes from just enjoying being around to..wanting to be with (even though those sound like the same sentiments) is probably defined completely on a situational basis...
